I want to put on my scuba gear and fish from the bottom of the ocean.

Nothing too extreme, 30-40 feet deep. That should allow for about 45-60 minute bottom time.
Anyone interested in a sub-sea tournament?
I knew I'd get your attention if I said I had pics. Ha Ha

Come one guys. You'd go out and buy a float tube if someone said you should.
Just get certified and lets catch some fish while sitting in an Octopuses garden in the shade!

No scuba for me in Socal. I've seen way to many toothy sharkies deep sea fishing over the years I've been here....

I scuba, and I have thought about the same thing....then I got a sling, and tried spearing once or twice- now I mainly fish(out of the water...) I don't think underwater fishing would be worth the effort. Buy a sling and try hunting.

I think Shark Park at San Miguel will do just fine, there is a small island offshore about 100 yards, known as Castle Rock. There is a ring of reefs and rocks that is about a mile across. This place is known as Shark Park. And for good reason. This is open ocean. Next stop, Hawaii. Great Whites and Open Ocean Makos frequent the place. While they seem to rarely present a problem, it you have seen one of these beauties here, you do not forget it. On an really clear day, you might be lucky enough to see some. There are Orcas there too. And a bunch of big fish.

Begg Rock and Richardson Rock are too deep to fish From the bottom.

ha now go scuba dive all around catalina island.

I already have dove all around Catalina.
I have dove all the Channel Islands.
I would be willing to fish from the sea floor at Blue Caverns or Goat Harbor.
Bird Rock too busy. Windward side is too rough most of the time.

Oh, I was just wondering what happens if a big Sculpin wraps itself around you and starts thrashing about.
I maybe should have thought this thing through a little more.

Tony, didn't you know that you can vote for him as many times as you like. Vote for him for me twenty or thirty times since I've never watched the show. But I heard Howard Stern is trying to destroy the show with http://votefortheworst.com

Yeah, it is nice.

The last time I dove there a commercial ab diver was attacked and killed by a White shark a week later.
I had a mesh game bag full of fish and switched to a fishclip from them on.

If you can swim you can set the weight on the bottom and swim about twenty to thirty feet away and watch the little buggers come and take the bait. Sounds fun to me!

Or........................

You could use a bobber and let the bobber and bait float to the surface while the current or bubbles move it from directly over head. Sounds like a great way to catch way too many mackrel. One is too many, in my opinion.

Netting them might be a chore!
