Hi Team 57,

I wanted to get some fishing in, so took a chance and brave the crowds and take Papa's Coco (Isaiah) out for some fishing down at Newport. I decided to go to the same location I had been to once before with Santa Fe and try our luck and hope for parking. It worked out great that I got one of the green curb parking (disabled placard) spots with 5 minutes of arriving and we unloaded and headed down to the small dock.
Within 30 minutes of being there some old man called me an "ahole" in front of my Grandson because he demanded that I reel in lines (2) that were no where near him as he docked to drop someone off. I politely told him that the lines were not even close to him as he docked and that if I wasn't a respectful man, that I'd have punched him in the face for talking to me that way in front of my Grandson. OK, sometimes I do get a little ghetto....sorry.
On to the fishing, we had some bloodworms and mussels that we picked up at a bait store and c-rigged Isaiah's Spiderman and Nemo poles.
After about an hour, I caught a crocker and then we relaxed for a short time until Isaiah also caught a crocker. A man that had docked, walked by and asked how we were doing and I said "ok" and he shared with me that some guy sits at the opposite end and catches a lot of fish. I took note and sent Isaiah to the other corner, he cast out and a couple of minutes later, he caught a perch. He then went on to catch during the afternoon:
1 - crocker
1 - sand bass
1 - small halibut
1 - pech
2 - sargos

Fish caught with his trusty Spiderman pole.

Still love catching fish with his Nemo pole (1st pole ever).

Some of the people out there are complete snobs and expect the whole harbor to do what they say. Hard not to keep your temper down, so I commend you. Great job taking your grandson down there. I'm sure he appreciates it.

We ended up the day catching 3-4 sargos, it seems they came in late in the evening and the other guy on the dock caught several also on mussels at the same time late.

Thanks everyone.
There's nothing more in life that bring me joy, then fishing with Isaiah.

Wingnut - I won't make the surf event because of big company picnic, but i'll be glad to join you any other time so you can coach me on the surf.
