Fished Castaic I got there early in the morning for the bite along the rocky shore areas.
I did not see much boils of striper like the last time but the water was calm.

I seen shad being pushed up against the shoreline and use these to land some lmb’s

Here was the average size that I hook up on from the shore areas.

I hooked those mostly in the morning. Later I spooned a few and landed some small striper with a crankbait.

It is a Heddon "Zara Gossa" It will sink slowly if you cast and wait. Or if you retrieve it after it hits the water it will pop up like a spook on the surface. I do not know if you can buy them anymore. It does not look like much but is real
good. It always seem to work when bass are finicky on poppers. A good investment for sure.

Is that a picture of a smallmouth?

Didn't know Castaic had them.

It is a largemouth. I do not think they have smallmouth in that lake.
