Whats up...Well went Castaic for my first trip ever, and it turned out to be a good idea. Got there a little too early and waited at the front gate to launch. We were the first boat in, and the first on the water. As tim is in the boat and i launch it off the trailer, the stripers immediately boil like crazy all around the launch ramp area like the size of football field...sucked seeing that in my rear view mirror as i pulled the truck back up the ramp...
First spot we hit was a cove not too far up the fishing arm. Tim struck first on topwater, but fish wasn't picture worthy. A few minutes later we find a small boil about 100 ft from the boat. Baits fly out, and immediately tim hooks up to a better fish and lands the first nice striper of the day

A few casts later in the cove, after the boil left, my bait gets blown up on near the shore. Fight the fish for a quick minute and pull up an obese little bass...the stomach on this thing was really funny, someone's been eating shad! (sorry didn't like the way my face looked...lol)

For the next two hours or so we caught a bunch and missed a bunch of decent fish. The boils weren't crazy wide open, but they were definitely fun once you found them. Back in elizabeth canyon in the morning was pretty cool, they were boiling all around the boat at the wind drifted us right over em, and they didn't spook for about 10 minutes. Here's a few bass that were caught along the way. (many fish not pictured, too busy...lol!)

We found some more boils and tried to run'n'gun to em, along with the other 12 boats doing the same, and promptly had no luck. As we were calling it a day, we figured out the pattern that they were boiling in, and guessed the next spot they would be. We happened to be right on them, and i got my first striper ever and it was a nicer one. Tim lost two fish in the boil, one took his topwater and snapped him off, then he threw a floating swimbait out in the mix and got hammered by the looks of 10+ lb striper...Both ended the day happy as every single fish caught today was on topwater baits. Missed a few on other techniques, but stuck out the topwater and were glad we did.
Last fish of the day, and my first ever striper...!
