Took the family out for some panfishing on a pontoon. Weather was HOT and we had almost no breeze. Fished a few different spots for lots of small bass(c&r), bluegill and a couple of crappie 12'' & 12.5'' :)

The yucipa fire started while we were fishing and a sea plane flew right over us. Literally right over us then it came around the east dam to scoop water.

This happened a few times and it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen while fishing. The family had a great day at DVL.
I've seen and heard reports of some stripers being be caught. I would love to catch a few of those. Does anyone have any tips on how to catch them at DVL? It would be very much appreciated.

I remember fishing Lake Perris when a water dropping plane scooped up water at the east end. The park patrol cleared us all out of the area about 10 minutes before the plane came in. Yeah, so cool.

One of the crappie was on a drop shot small minnow type bait and the other was caught by my GF on a spit shot 2'' piece of nightcrawler which the fish hit 2ft under the surface. Both fish were caught over rocky structure.

Most of the Bluegill were about 7'' with a couple that were in the 9'' range. They were all along the dam 5ft under.

John,
I still cant believe you caught a crappie at that lake. We are going to have to challenge each other on who can catch the most crappie
