Fuller, 26, was the Dodgers 11th round pick in 2006, and is hitting .254-.340-.418 in 205 at-bats for High Class-A Inland Empire.
This is what we gave up for him,.

As far as "not worth the money he is being paid"....what percentage of players in the MLB do you think that applies to each season? More than 65-70%? Zito, Vlad, Giambi, Abreu, Delgado, Pettitte, Thome all come to mind this season thus far.

Very interesting acquisition in Thome, regardless of my mentioning him earlier in the season as underachieving based on salary(as many players do) I have always liked Thome....often gracing the roster of my fantasy baseball teams in years past.

It is going to be interesting to see what kind of role he plays though, I assume he is primarily going to pinch hit. Will he start a few games against against select pitching matchups regardless of his defensive liability? Great DH should we make it to the world series though! I certainly don't see Loney as the odd man out by any means, a nice pick up for the stretch run regardless!

Something interesting, I read online....

Or normal for the other big acquisition to call his future GM before

Jim Thome lobbed Colletti a phone call while the Dodgers and White Sox were still putting that deal together, letting him know that he wasn't physically capable of playing first base but was eager to come to LA and willing to do anything else that needed to be done.

"I didn't call him," Colletti said. "He called me, just wanting to let me know where he was at and how he was feeling. That shows the class and dignity of Jim Thome, and it speaks to what we're getting."
One of my favorite players.......but his numbers have declined...

.249 but 23 HR

On a side note only 4 games at 1st base, since 2006
Good Luck Jim!!

Ahh man, does this means Juan Pierre wont be our primary pinch hitter of the bench any more?

Crap!

DS, do you not see the logic in this move by the doyers?

Because I don't either, unless he could actually play first.....

"The Dodgers reportedly are only on the hook for $1 million of the $2.4 million Thome is still owed this season. The White Sox will pay the rest."

.....that and the fact the Dodgers had no power coming off the bench, a low risk pick up and besides who else is going to hit a grand slam in game 7 of the world series to beat the yankees right SCG?

Like I told you TD, if Thome goes kirk gibson in game 7 my Thome autographed ball hits EBAY!!!!

At the end of the season, we will take Thome's appearances and divide them by $1,000,000......

Thome and Ramirez, reunited once again. I hope Colleti is on the lookout for Albert Belle so we can add even more "power" to the lineup.

In short, the pick up is not bad, but I don't see him having much of an impact since he won't be seeing too many at bats. Going from a role where u saw many at bats, to a role where u may see one a week, will be a daunting task for Jim. Essentially, we got a decent DH.

Apparently someone forgot to tell Ned that the Dodgers play in the National League.

"He'll be a great DH in the World Series!!"

Uhh...let's first get past the Phills and the Cards before we start wondering where the parade route will begin, shall we?

Jim is a great teammate and clubhouse guy, and does bring some veteran wisdom into the fray. Hopefully the first person he takes under his wing is James Loney, and teaches him how to hit homeruns.

The "big bat off the bench" angle only works when the player doesn't have a disadvantage facing same sided pitching. To think that Thome is going to face right handed relievers, when most teams in baseball have left handed specialists whose sole job is to mow left handed hitters down, is constructive thinking.

Maybe TroutDog can pull up some stats on Thome vs left handed pitching. And because through the years, Thome has essentially become a "feast or famine" type of hitter, it worries me more since everytime he's up, his sole job is to hit a cholo on the head in the pavillions, he's gonna be pulling off the ball, which I hope doesn't translate into late inning ralley kills via the K, or the dreaded inning ending 4-6-3 DP.

Of course, we'll have the Colleti Lovers rejoicing when he hits 3 homers from here to the end of the season, but that is all we will realistically get from him. As stated above, its not like he'll be seeing the field from a defensive prospective any time soon.

Is he a better pinch hitting option than Slappy/Loretta/Ausmus? Sure! But considering the names that make up that trio, its nothing I'm getting too excited about. I'm just happy the guy got out of the pit of despair known as the White Sox, who went from "Buyers" to "Sellers" in record amount of time. Thrown in the towel much?

No thank you.

I just wanted a level headed (thinks with his head, not so much as his heart)
opinion on the trade. And DS seems to be one of those few people on here....

When I pull up stats you'll say "how long did you search the net for that info" and then when I give in opinion you pull the "cheerleader" or the "you think with your heart" card....there is no winning either way. With that said I am convinced you are either a woman or related to my ex

Back to Thome, after I threw up seeing Jim in his doyer uniform...He had a nice 300 ft single (on which the rest of the powerful doyers could not cash in)
