Sorry for the late report - had a busy weekend.
Went out of San Diego friday with my friend John. The weather had been crappy all week so the plan was to fish the Coronado Islands, and if things look decent, maybe look offshore.
Got to the islands at 6am and the weather looked good so we headed west about 5-6 miles and started trolling. After about 1/2 hour we get a hit on the cedar plug which turned out to be a 20 pound yellowfin.

Nice way to start the morning. We trolled the area for another hour or so but no more action. Heard there was a decent bite going on at the 425 so we pulled in the trollers and headed that way.
Now John is an old fart that complains about getting up early and can't spot paddys unless he runs over the top of them, but the only reason why I bring him is because he makes an excellent breakfast sandwich.

really hits the spot after a hard morning of fishing. We get to the spot to find the rest of the armada there. People on the radio were reporting good action in the morning but it had slowed by the time we got there.
We trolled around for an hour or so, then I decided to try the rockpile area to see if there were any more yellowtail around. Motored over there and fished another hour or so for nothing.
Heard the middle grounds were producing so we ran up the line and anchored up with the fleet. The yellows were biting but the seals were out in force. I lost four nice fish in a row. Two of them just came unbuttoned, but the other two went to the seals. I had the last one right next to the boat before a 500 pound dog come out of nowhere and takes off with it.
Frustrated, I pulled anchor and left them biting. Headed back offshore to where we caught the first tuna and worked it hard for one more 15 pound yellowfin that came off a paddy.

The weather never did come up too bad, there was a little whitecaps in the afternoon but not too bad. Fishing was a little tough but still a nice day out.
