You may want to check out Diaz Lake.

I know nothing about the place. I think it maybe too far south for you.

June Lake has actual swim beaches with a buoyed off swim area during the summer. Maybe too far north for you.

You can try Convict

This Dude is tubing it in shorts!:EyePop:

Speaking of pools....

There is the Whitmore pool south of Mammoth. Turn on the road to Benton Crossing (at the Green Church). You'll see the pool on your left.

If you are looking for lakes, then there really only is June Lake and Horseshoe Lake in Mammoth. Swimming is prohibited (and actually downright dangerous) in the other lakes. There are no lifeguards, and the water can be pretty cold (although this time of year it can be pleasant because the air temp can be pretty hot). Here's a link to swimming in Mammoth: http://www.visitmammoth.com/static/index.cfm?contentID=82.

I know there is water skiing in Grant lake, but there isn't a "swimming beach" there.

There is also swimming at Mono Lake, but you can't very well set up your pole for a few fish (like you can at June Lake): http://www.thesierraweb.com/monolake/swim.cfm

Have fun!

I would say June Lake and Grant Lake are the best - June Lake's swim beach being the better of those two.

People swim in South Lake and Sabrina quite often - but the water is much much colder than it is in June Lake.

Diaz is a fun place - murky water but warm.

There are some Artesian springs out by the Owens off Line St. that would be kid friendly and not freezing.
