so here is my report im not sure if this should go here or in the other section but owell. went to toyon bay for almost a week, went from the 14 to the 19. its about 2 miles up from avalon. this is a short report sorry its late also. i fished mostly nights for halis and lepard sharks couldnt catch any bait during the day this year was funny most the time there is bait all around the pier but not this year not till night time. so i could not try to kayak a bait. but i did hook up with a yellow in the kayak with a hole squid off the bottom it was awesome about a 12 pounder no pics due to i was in a kayak and didnt want to ruion my camara with the water. but i tried to pull him into the kayak and the line broke about a hour later i got hooked up with some thing big that ripped the line off my littlle fresh water bait caster. i caught a lepard shark with a kastmasteron a fresh water pole and lost 2 mroe that hit lures. only about 3 feet long though. got a lot of calicos and a lot of bat rays. great trip o ya lost a biggggggg halibut, this local guy was telling us to fish with huge chunks of mack of the end of the pier and i was using about a half a big mack and brought in a 25 30 pound halibut i got him up to the surface then he took me around the poles :( i think thats about it it was a great trip caught a lot of lepard sharks also. pics will come tomorrow.

Nice! Knew you'd do well. Buy a bunch of bloody fish or lots of strips of squid and chum up your own bait next time. Might bring in some bonies too.

Hi chr~909,

That had to be fun. Did you take the island bus to hit some spots along the way to two-harbors ? I want to do that one of these days. Long hikes but ....

Ahhh some good memories for sure. So I assumed you did the hike to the little church/tower place? Unreal fishing for sure. Any snorkeling? That's fun too.

Did you try night fishing? I remember doing that and it was surreal. So many lobster, rays, sheepshead, and even a WSB.

Congrats on getting to fish there, and doing so well!

I just read what I had typed and realized I typed night dive instead of night fishing. lol.

Yeah, the counselor who was fishing was legit. I wasn't into fishing when I went, but he let me help reel stuff up because I was interested (I was like 11, so he held the rod and I reeled). The WSB was like 30in and was kept for "research purposes" along with some lobster from his hoop net.

Next time you go there you should grab some snorkeling gear and try that at night too instead of fishing. I did that and saw lobster everywhere. No big fish, but I wasn't really looking. Saw some garibaldi, calicos, and a small Black Sea bass.
