What more can I say other than memories to last a lifetime.
Got up in the am and went to church
Got back and called up Uncle Bob to see how he and wingnut and fam were doing...they were on fire. It was then 1030am! I was ready to make the drive from LB to Castaic as I knew we'd get into some stripeys on a rental...We got there in just an hour and a half...phoned up and told Uncle B that I had just got there with Dad, and was gona sign up for a rental. Few minutes later after signing in for a rental, and patiently waiting, i get a phone call back from uncle B..."wingnut and fam has caught there limits, and said theres room on the phenom..." I quickly asked to speak to wingnut, to get the ok...Sometimes good things happen when you least expect it...and expect things like that to happen frequently when someone like Uncle B or Wingnut/Arthur are around. I owe, I owe... Without hesitation, I got tickets to 1/2 dayon the Phenom with Pops...He has been wanting me to take him striper fishing as i've been teasing him with photos from TO's Guide Trips...and the blisters on my reeling thumb from prior trips of striper slayfests with TO.
We got on the water by 130pm and started the deal. We told my father that all he had to do was reel, while Uncle B set up the goodies, and I let line out...we were like a well oiled machine...I was worried that pops might have "noodle-arms" after fighting real sized schoolies. The day was wearing on, as we were sharing stories and more...man I swear that the stories and more will be imbeded in my head for the rest of my lfe. not often are we lucky to have our pops, and people the likes of TO, wingnut to share those times... NE ways blah blah blah... I was getting one of the lines back into the water so that Dad could get his striper on the bloody phenom when WHAM..the rod tip shoehorns back, and the drag screems off my thumb..i look up to see if we are shallow, and see that the other rod is still going w/ no snags...i yell to Uncle B and Dad...HOOKUP-HOOKUP..fatty on! AS i set the drag it takes off...TO knew in an instant what the deal was...he set up the boat, and the fight with whatever was on the end of the line was on! I get it close, but it stays deep under theboat...TO says, whats the count...i said 20' still nothing to see, then th e leader came, still no fishy, so we know its a sizeable one...but will it be my PB or a sized LMB?? seconds later, "kewly its a big one.." Thats all i had to hear, as i buttoned the drag, heaved one more time upwards and into the net..as the body lumped on its side, i was hoping it wouldn't kick out...not even a second and Uncle B scoops the fish onto the deck. i was speechless, my father and TO were laughing hysterically.
No words to describe those moments...while all that, we were lucky not to get buzzed off by the water fanatics this day, but lucky and blessed was it to land my PB with my father and TO.
