This is a report for Saturday, August 22nd, both the 3/4 day and twilight trips. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Dad and I decided to hop on the Tradition yesterday. We ended up with a full load of 45 anglers, and after we got some nice sardines from the New Sunbeam, we were off to Catalina. Our crew consisted of Captain Steven Konrady, Shawn in the galley, and Morgon and John on deck. After Stevo made his safety speech and Morgon took up the jackpot, we all got settled in for the ride over, which turned out to be a little bumpy. Once we arrived to the island, it got pretty calm, but conditions were less than ideal. We finally came to an area that had better conditions, and we got set up.

Those who could flyline a sardine back into the kelp got a few bites, but the bass weren't that eager to bite the sardines. We tried a few spots in the area, where some bonito showed up. Other anglers continued to get some more bass. However, the bite was picky, so we moved on to an area where the guys have been seeing some yellows lately. We did see a few yellows, but there were no biters. Fishing wasn't stellar, but we got a few.

After we got in, we soon turned around and headed back out for the twilight run. Our crew consisted of Captain Alan Ferguson, Shawn in the galley, and Austin on deck. We made a run up the coast, and set up. I managed to get a few at this spot on the plastic with squid, as did others. We soon moved on to another spot, on which we had to reposition, but once we were settled, the fish started to bite. The fog rolled in pretty thick, but we continued to catch. The barracuda moved in, and I constantly got bit on the way down with plastic and squid, and I managed to land one. Those throwing the jig also got a few. Dropping to the bottom also was good for some nice sized sand bass.

If you worked at it, you got some. While fishing was less than stellar, it still was really great to be on the water. Great times, great fishing!

Hi Jackpot Jimmy,

On the Catalina trip ... Just getting a chance to wet a line there opens up the possibilities that's for sure !!

WTG on the Bass on the twilight. Guess it's nice to have them bite in the cool of the evening.
