Chris (Rambogottafish) called me on Thursday, and asked if I wanted to fish on his boat Saturday, easiest question I had to answer all week, said see ya a little before 6:00 AM.
Arrived at Chris's @ 5:45 am, air temp 78* and humid. Arrive at Lake Perris just before 6:00, 4th boat on the water. We, decided to head to the dam, and started throwing Senkos and reaction baits. As the weather was in constant flux, light to medium winds, light rain for about 45 min, and then sunny skies, definitely made the fish more active early, but difficult to get them to bite later.
About 20 mins of throwing a Senko, I landed a typical Perris bass of about 2 lbs. CP&R, continued throwing the senko, about 30 minutes later, land another quality fish weighing 4 lbs 13 oz, my biggest fish of the year. At this time, Chris changes up to a Senko, and here's where it got fun. Chris throws his Senko about 5 ft from the dam in 5 ft of water. Without knowing exactly where his bait was, I threw my Senko within a ft of his. Jokingly he said, if I catch a fish there, he's gonna be pissed, well you can guess what happened next, I best my previous fish, with a nice 5 lber, gave a good fight, and had a few good runs, peeling some drag. As we joked about that fish, Chris got in on the action, he landed 2 quick bass on Senkos, no pics of his fish. As we continued working the dam, I was able to land another just under 2 lbs.
The bite died down, so we decided to head over by the island, here Chris and I have a double hook up, the first double for us. Chris's about 2 lbs, caught on a crank bait, mine was a little smaller caught on the drop shot. The bite for me became nonexistent, Chris continued finding the fish with the crank bait, unfortunately he farmed more than he landed, landing 1 and farming 5. Tough day, but he will get em next time.
As we continued throwing different baits for no luck, we moved to site 11/ 12. Here we threw a varity of baits fo nothing. We decided to give the dam one more try before heading home. The wind was picking up, and the water getting choppy from the jet skies, and recreational boaters, we couldn't locate the fish.
Decided to head back to Chris's house to have a couple Samuel Adams in celebration of some good news earlier in the week. Chris, I had a blast today, my most productive day at Perris in a long time. Thanks again for the invite, its always a privilege fishing with you, look forward to doing it again. Heres a couple pics of the fish caught today.
