Salad buffet, murky water, and lots of pounding.... I was prepared to go home with a :Skunk:

Finally found a spot with less salad...wasnt a whole lot better but fishable.

Japan Ron Aside 1: Fishing straight spectra

I tried fishing straight spectra(with a short leader) in the surf for the first time...I'm loving it! I can feel every little tap and can tell what kind of structure im fishing on. It also saves a whole lot of time because i dont have to worry about breaking my line when i wrap around kelp...I can give it a yank and cut thru it like butter! The downside is that my chances of ripping the hook out of a big fish increase...We will see how that goes...

Japan Ron Aside 2: Swimbaits

Havent had much luck on the swimbaits in the surf yet...I did hook one BIG fish but it spit the hook and my bait was destroyed...Anyway... next time the conditions present themselves, Ill be ready...

that was a sculpin you were wondering about. and probably a bsp that bit your swimmy in half.

Nice work YTWSB101. Did a bit of surfing today rather than fishing, but the waves were pretty big everywhere. Need to head up that way for a yak launch soon.

TM, once the saltwater touches your skin, you're gonna shrivel up like a prune.

I believe that is a Shimano Sahara 2500/Shimano Compre combo.

Doesnt really look like a sculpin...Im thinking more grass rockfish... and Im thinking legal hali on the fish that got away  but thats what i like about saltwater fishing...you never know whats at the end of your line.

Like CKK said..its a Shimano Sahara 2500FD/Compre setup. Not too expensive of a setup and i use it for pretty much everything inshore...perch to bay bass. I even take it along on the party boats...on a slow day ill have some fun pulling on whatever wants to bite.
