We have been hitting some beaches in San Diego because my husband is determined to find clams, but no luck.
Last weekend we went out to Coronado Island and tried the Silver Strand beach with no luck.
So, just wondering if there are any tips or anyone going clamming this weekend anywhere in OC/LA or SD beach area? We were going to head out to SD again this weekend and go ghost shrimping in the early am and then fish for bass or something, I guess. My husband is not too sure on the details yet.

When I was a kid ( many Moons ago ) we would get clams in Huntington Beach, Seal Beach. Not sure if there is even any left these days. After the tanker oil spill off the shore in H.B . in the early 90's I would not eat them now a days .

Although I haven't done it before from gathering info and asking around, best time to go clamming is on a negative tide. And even then its still better if you go into the water knee to waste deep. Don't forget the pitch fork.....
