Decided to hit Castaic to try for some stripers, again. Took my bro and my cousin. Got to my spot and baited up the poles with the anchovie and sardines. First couple of minutes and my cousin is on with a nice channel cat about 1.5 pounds. Then about 10 minutes later, my pole almost flies out of my hands and I am in for a fight! I could feel something big was on the other end and my heart was beating. Could this be the double digit striper I have been hearing about? After a some line peeling runs, I get him to the surface and it is a huge catfish. Even thought it wasn't a striper, I was still stoked! Ended up catching two more schoolie stripers and lost 3 others. Bites were pretty consistent and I had a great time.
The catfish ended up being 29 inches long and 9.5 pounds, a personal best for me.

Thanks everyone! I'm still excited about that cat, might be hitting up Castiac again this weekend, caught it around a point near Hawk's Nest.

I think you can walk to it, but it's a hike from the marina or first parking lot. They usually have maps at the gate or in at the boat rental shop.

Looks like he's got 2 gunshot wounds by his tail, must have been hanging out with the wrong crowd there in LA.
