Sorry no pics... Arrived at Seaforth Landing Tue night (8/11) around 8p. Waited for the boat to return from an overnight trip. Endeavor came in around 8:30p with a nice score of 100+ mixed albies, bluefin and yellowtail. Good sign for our trip!
Left the docks around 8:30 with 15 anxious anglers. After tanking up with sardines, headed west for the tuna grounds. Started fishing around 5:30a in the dark. Weather was absolutely perfect. Flat seas with just a slight breeze. A few anglers were soaking bait including myself. Saw about a dozen boats in the area including the Legend. At 5:45am, Hook-up! Three BFT hit the deck. By noon, we had about 2 fish/rod with the BFT averaging 15-18lbs with the larger models pushing 40lbs. We stopped on about a dozen meter marks with the BFT boiling around the boat. Ticket was using a lively bait on 20-25lb test. Several fish were also caught on jigs (mega baits, 6X chrome/blue & white). Stopped on several paddies with most of them "vacant - nobody home!" After lunch, we stopped on a nice size paddy where three jumbo yellowtail were caught - all were 25-30lbs. Another kelp yielded a fatso 30lb albie. In summary, it was a plunker bite with long soaks and weather was absolutely gorgeous. Captain Dave aka Sueno, and his crew Diron, Russ, and Eddie were outstanding as usual.
Final Count:
15 anglers landed 47 BFT, 4 YT, 1 ALB, and 1 DORADO. Jackpot was a 40lb BFT.
My count:
6 BFT. Had sashimi and made a batch of poke. BFT is the best sashimi in the world hands down.
