Well today was ok for football.

I hate both Cowgirls And the Oakland Faders, but today I wanted the raiders to win so I can rub it in my bro in laws face that his beloved Cowboys got spanked by a even shittier team. The pats came out on top also all the guys on espn were praising brady return 10-15 100 yrds 2 TD's 1 INT. Nothing impressive to me that is like the standard they should have expected of him. We'll see how long he lasts up against the bigg boys not 3-4 stringers fighting for a job.

Hey I'm a Browns fan. That would be funny though but the Browns already have 2 quarterbacks who's fighting for the starting job.

Today was great for my NINERS our defense did really well against Kyle Orton & the denver broncos. We managed to get 3 Interceptions,One thing I do think the 9ers need to improve on is there pass rush defense we didnt manage to get 1 sack all game. But hey thats what pre season is all about. Working out all the kinks.

Yea all this bullcrap and im over it already. I was so ****** excited when we got him in the draft, And after all this holdout **** really pisses me off. I really think NFL should put some kind of salary cap for rookie draft picks out of college. Come on these kids havent played a single NFL game and want to be paided more than a freakin superbowl MVP come on this is a joke! As for the Raiers being a better team you should scratch that. For 1 we have 5 not 3 Superbowl championships. and 2 I belive we had a better record that the Raiders for the past 4-5 years (I may be wrong).

Well see who comes out on top this Saterday. I know its a preseason game but some Raider fans take them as legit games since they get more wins during preseason

They actually were good for the 3years before that 2000 Superbowl and should of been in the Superbowl before that but got robbed by the "tuck rule". Anyways Raiders are a winning franchise. Every team has thier down years, even Dallas and the 49ers. I'm not talking crap here but I'm a Raider fan win or lose. I can't wait for Al Davis to move on but have a good feeling about this year. Since that 2000 Superbowl they haven't had a stable QB. J.R. is looking good and Jeff Garcia is a pretty decent QB. The running back are solid recieving core looks good and the defense is solid. Let's see what happens. You never know, That's why they play the games.

Yea I agree with you I think the Raiders might actually have a shot to win there division this year. Chargers are pretty much done I dont think the return of Merriman is going to make a drastic change. Cheifs got rid of the best player Gonzalez,Josh Mcdaniels looked like a fool when HIS BOY KYLE ORTON threw up 3 Picks to my Niners. He should have never traded Jay Cutler. Like I said already they looked good in there 1st preseason game Russle & Mcfadden looked really good out there. Cant wait for saterday 9ERS Vs Raiders :Twisted::Twisted::Twisted::Twisted:

NAPA, Calif. – The 80-year-old legend sat silently in a motorized cart, watching his most-dreaded football nightmare play out in all its twisted splendor.

There were Al Davis’ Oakland Raiders (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/oak/;_ylt=AgJh.viG.eNs3l9JxvizIOWr0op4) on Wednesday morning, hosting the third of four joint training camp practices with the San Francisco 49ers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/sfo/;_ylt=Atz_U5o1z2hzrgk8g1V1Q26r0op4), getting physically and verbally abused by their cross-Bay rivals and meekly submitting to the butt-whipping.

“I love it when they can’t compete!” 49ers cornerback Nate Clements (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5468/;_ylt=Ajdnqje3BOMla9yIZ6PpAEar0op4)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5468/news;_ylt=Arnr1acV__xDPLowCCEgNYOr0op4) screamed after intercepting Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8255/;_ylt=An4DeYtDVq0lHDOJWxih6NOr0op4)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8255/news;_ylt=AmSwRIAccVT1_IuAKSXkW.ar0op4) in a lopsided red-zone drill, setting off a barrage of condescending cackles from the visitors in red and gold.

As his obviously intimidated offense continued to struggle, and the 49ers celebrated each interception with cocksure elation, Davis couldn’t have been thrilled by his team’s passivity.

Yet in one sense, the Raiders’ lack of fight could have been construed as a promising sign. After learning earlier this week that the NFL will investigate an Aug. 5 incident in which defensive assistant Randy Hanson was hospitalized with a fractured jaw – reportedly sustained during an altercation with head coach Tom Cable, who has denied his involvement – Davis has once again been confronted with a culture steeped in incidents involving internal turmoil.

(On Wednesday night a source close to Hanson told Yahoo! Sports that the coach is back in a hospital because of swelling in his jaw. The source insisted Cable “is definitely” responsible for the injury and that “I was told Tom had to be pulled off of him two times.”)

Violent confrontations between employees is nothing new for a franchise that has compiled the NFL’s worst overall record (24-72) during the past six seasons. Interviews with numerous current and former players, coaches and front-office employees reveal a consistent pattern of physically charged clashes, most of which went unreported. In addition, the principals rarely incurred overt discipline, creating the impression that lawlessness is a way of life in Raiderland.

“It’s never a dull moment,” says USC receivers coach John Morton, who worked for the Raiders in various capacities from 1997-2004. “It’s hard to be a Raider – it’s not for everybody. If you’re a player or coach, you’ve got to have thick skin. And every time you hear something about the Raiders, it’s something that’s kind of crazy.”
Added another former Raiders assistant who recently worked for the team: “The environment sucks there. Everybody just wants their side to do well so Al doesn’t call them out. Trust me, after what just happened with Cable, this staff already knows they’re fired.”
Given that Davis, among NFL owners, has unrivaled involvement in the day-to-day operation of his franchise, there’s no question that he bears a great deal of responsibility for the contentious environment.
“I just think that’s Al’s way,” says Packers cornerback Charles Woodson (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4271/;_ylt=App6EetcTd3kxfMzdvkdA0ur0op4)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4271/news;_ylt=AhTO9smqTMYr6IWTnmql_Yyr0op4), who spent his first eight NFL seasons (1998-2005) in Oakland. “There are forces pulling you every which way, and it just seems like people are never on the same page.”
Or, as one Raiders veteran said earlier this week in response to the Cable incident, “Just another day at the office around here. You know how that goes. It’s always something.”
Among the incidents recalled by that player and some of his former teammates and coaches was a practice-field confrontation at the team’s Alameda, Calif., training headquarters late in 2004 between Morton, then the team’s tight ends coach, and tight end Teyo Johnson (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6399/;_ylt=AqPnWu_A70bg00eP9WGtMamr0op4)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6399/news;_ylt=AjBP5k3MkbTQurpbvORaTe6r0op4). It occurred three days before the final regular-season game after Johnson, an underachieving ’03 second-round NFL draft pick, ran the wrong route in practice.
Several witnesses say that, after Morton loudly upbraided Johnson for his mistake, the player angrily got in the coach’s face and shoved him in the chest. The two men screamed at one another in close proximity before they were separated by players and coaches.
“No, he didn’t push me,” Morton insists. “He got up in my face and chest-bumped me or something. He just snapped and started going off – you know, a player being macho. You’ve got to know your limitations.”
The confrontation brought an end to practice, and as Johnson walked off the field, one former player remembers Davis’ odd reaction: “He was standing in the north end zone and as Teyo walked by Al said, ‘Teyo – you can’t win ‘em all.’ ”
According to the same player Johnson was not disciplined by Davis or then-coach Norv Turner. Johnson remained on the roster until the following summer, when he was released at the end of the preseason. Morton was not retained after the ’04 season.
“They fired the coach and kept the player,” the former player said. “That’s what they do in Oakland.”
In October of 2005 another incident occurred, this time with the coach as the aggressor. According to several people who witnessed the incident, Martin Bayless, then Oakland’s defensive backs coach, got physical with then-rookie cornerback Stanford Routt (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7214/;_ylt=AhlFioa1j9CiVXMbg41pnq6r0op4)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7214/news;_ylt=AiONIpo6J8oYAT2CQyhRFkCr0op4) in the Oakland Coliseum locker room following the Raiders’ 38-17 victory over the Buffalo Bills (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/buf/;_ylt=Aq5JsMiaRuEP6pMCqr6f5Mer0op4).
Witnesses say Bayless was enraged that Routt, who is still with the team, had refused to enter the game as part of the field-goal rush unit, forcing a veteran to race onto the field in his place. Bayless, who did not return messages seeking comment, chewed out Routt at the player’s locker shortly after the game, and things quickly escalated.
“[Bayless] jacked him up into his locker and shoved him down,” recalls one witness who played for the ’05 Raiders.
These as-yet-unreported incidents came in the wake of a high-profile 2003 assault by linebacker Bill Romanowski on teammate Marcus Williams. Punched by Romanowski following a practice-field dispute, Williams sustained a serious eye injury that effectively ended his career. He later filed a civil suit against his Romanowski and was ultimately awarded $340,000 in damages.
“That [punch] got the publicity, but I saw so many things like that,” says one former Raiders player who is now with another team. “I saw a player push a coach and get his game check taken away. Other players would cuss out coaches and get away with it. One coach made a smartass comment and a player pushed him almost to the ground. I saw a coach take a swing at a player. Coaches were verbally going after other coaches. And guys were getting drunk in meetings or coming to practice still drunk from the night before. They’d throw up before we went out on the field, or you could smell the liquor on their breath.”
Some of the franchise’s dysfunction was revealed last Sept. 30 when Davis, in a televised news conference that lasted more than 90 minutes, announced that he had fired second-year coach Lane Kiffin and was promoting Cable, then the offensive line coach, as the interim replacement. Davis said he was firing Kiffin “for cause” – meaning he intended to withhold the balance of the coach’s contract – and part of his case included Kiffin’s treatment of Hanson, the team’s second-year assistant defensive backs coach.
After Hanson reportedly made a derogatory remark in a coach’s meeting following the team’s 41-14 defeat to the Denver Broncos (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/den/;_ylt=AilivRoRlgfps67dsAcpY_mr0op4) in the ’08 season opener, Kiffin suspended him for five days without Davis’ knowledge.
Following the season, Davis retained Cable as head coach but purged defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and the rest of the team’s defensive assistants – except for Hanson, who remained on the staff with a new title.
According to several sources, Hanson was seen as a Davis favorite and confidante, and thus was resented by numerous players and coaches, particularly Cable.
“Randy Hanson thought he was the smartest guy in the world,” one former Raiders player says. “In our first game , we went up against [offensive coordinator] Mike Martz and the Lions, and he went around bragging that he had ‘cracked the code.’ That game [a 36-21 Detroit victory] was a joke – we were out there guessing and getting our asses kicked. In the fourth quarter Martz didn’t call a single play that Randy Hanson had ever seen. Yeah, he sure ‘cracked that code.’ ”
Hanson, several former and current players say, was suspected by his peers of feeding information to Davis.
“The guy’s considered a snitch,” says one player who was with the team in 2007. “Al would come to practice every Thursday and see what we had installed, so if Rob [Ryan] or Lane wanted to put something in the game plan without him knowing, they’d have to put it in for the Friday practice or the [Saturday] walk-through. But [Davis] would find out and get mad, and they thought Hanson was the guy telling him. We didn’t trust him, either.”
It’s unclear whether Cable’s potential mistrust of Hanson precipitated the Aug. 5 incident that landed the assistant in the hospital, but several sources familiar with the two men believe this was the case. On Monday, AOL FanHouse reported that Cable had hit Hanson (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=ArmSDOB7i9Njqpe64Uv2KzWr0op4/SIG=138g8fe51/**http%3A//nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/08/17/sources-raiders-coach-tom-cable-punched-assistant-during-alterc/) and that the assistant “never saw it coming.” A police report taken at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa on Aug. 6 identified neither Hanson nor the attacker.
Hanson was not at practice on Monday when the FanHouse report surfaced and has not been spotted in at the Raiders’ facilities since (as of Wednesday evening). At the start of their Monday afternoon practice a group of Raiders made light of the incident, chanting “Cable, Bumaye” – a reference to the “Ali, Bumaye” chant in Zaire during the 1974 “Rumble In The Jungle” heavyweight fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. (The chant translates to “Cable Kill Him!)
On Monday Cable declined to discuss the reported incident, calling it an internal matter. He reversed course in a conversation that evening with ESPN analyst Mark Schlereth, his former teammate at the University of Idaho, claiming “nothing happened” – words he repeated to a large gathering of reporters after the first joint practice with the 49ers on Tuesday morning.
Hanson, according to one friend, is deliberately sitting back on the advice of his lawyers while Cable and other Raiders officials make potentially damning statements. It is believed by some in the organization that Davis will compensate Hanson for his trouble and attempt to remedy the situation by shifting him to the personnel department.

http://l.yimg.com/a/p/sp/tools/med/2009/08/ipt/1250788222.jpg Cable with Russell during last week’s preseason opener.
(Jed Jacobsohn/Getty)

On Wednesday, as Romanowski looked on as a credentialed camp visitor, the Raiders’ offensive unit appeared shell-shocked in its competition with the fired-up 49ers, who grew louder with each interception or pass-breakup. Afterward, Cable blamed himself for the struggles, telling reporters he’d instructed Russell to “cut it loose” near the end zone, which led to unnecessary risks.
However, Cable questioned his players’ passive reaction to the beat-down, adding, “Those kinds of things happen to you in a game, so you’ve got to be able to handle those adversity moments and just get back on the horse and go again. I didn’t think we did a very good job of that, but I may have put them in a negative situation, too.”
If Cable is found by the league to be culpable in the Hanson incident, he may have put his players in a negative situation that could set a tenuous tone for the ’09 season and put his job in jeopardy.
Then again, as his owner could certainly attest, you can’t win ‘em all.

Neither the 49ers or the Raiders have had much success lately. In fact fans of both teams would be happy with just a winning season.

I think one thing we can all agree on is the 49ers have the ugliest colors/ uniforms in all of professional sports.

I unfortunately and unbelievably have to agree with TD.

I will be right there with ya TM watching my Cowboys go 8-8 this year, missing the playoffs, and then have to hear and read about all the shock and horror of why we missed the playoffs. (maybe the fact that we have only gotten rid of talent and haven't added any)!!Pull up a seat, ive gotten used to it.

Poor SoCalGuy none of his teams have won anything meaningful in so long he has to do hours of internet research on other teams faults to feel better about his own teams. It's kind of sad really.

Neither the 49ers or the Raiders have had much success lately. In fact fans of both teams would be happy with just a winning season.

I think one thing we can all agree on is the 49ers have the ugliest colors/ uniforms in all of professional sports.

Hell yea it was I dont know if its our offensive line or that our running backs are that good? The offensive kinda over shadowed the defense this game BUT the secondary did get 2 more picks!!!! so in 2 preseason games our defense has made a total of 5 Interceptions 2 fumble recoverys.

Coffee wasting no time before breaking the century mark on the ground after eight carries. At one point he ripped off three consecutive carries of 19, 18 and 35 yards:Shocked::Shocked::Shocked:

Yea for me it was a very good game. I was glad to see the O-line making those holes big enough to drive a truck through. Alex Smith didnt perform as well as the first preseason game but I still think we need to start him. Even our third stringer Davis was looking good, That guy has some major zip in his throwing arm.

I love the fact that Cowboy fans think THERE AMERICAS TEAM ???? WTF Who voted for that BUllcrap, certainly not me? Romo oh I mean Chokmo is this amazing QB Plz look at his stats hes garbage. Dallas Cowboys fans cant even realise how much T.O. did for them. So dont think witten is going to get as many touches as he did last year common sense double T.O. would almost always give Witten & the other recivers single coverge T.O spread the defense so much its not even funny. Say what you will about the guys personal life but u know he brought it 110% every game. With Roy william hurt now all they have is felix jones & barber so expect to see the cowboys running the ball like crazy. there defense is pretty much a joke so ....

Cant wait for the NINER beat down tomarrow:Wink:

Hey I never said I was glad T.O was gone.. He was a darn good football player. Cowboys should have never let him go. So he cried and complained alot.. That was him just showing passion for the game.. I admit Cowboys probably made a big mistake in dropping him.. I have much respect for him as a football player... If any of you watch the T.O show on VH1 it shows he is not a bad guy after all.

Besides the point. Whether they have T.O or not I still have faith in my team.. Ill be a fan.. WIN... LOSE or TIE...Ill be a Cowboy fan till I DIE..

Yeah the raiders do have a few more weapons this year but as a true raider fan i was really dissapointed in the saints game i mean it was embarrasing and shocking how our defense sucked balls the whole game and to be honest with you russell is looking worse every year i just dont think he has what it takes to be a great QB too bad theres goes another first round pick to the trash,But no matter what its all about the RAIDERS BABY.

Hell yea thats what im talking about. Our defense looked solid the first half & seemed to start running out of gas during the third. But the little talk Mike gave them during the time out seemed to get them fired up again. To bad the running game didnt go off like i thought it would but now I expect all the teams we face to have a big 8 man front against us cause our real threat is the run game.

Your Steelers have a tough match up against the Bears. Do you think that Palomalu's backup will fill in to stop the run (Forte)? I just hope he doesn't get run over like the backup for Sanders (Colts) did two years ago when Sanders was out. It would be nice to see the Steelers D harass Crybaby all day long and he throws another 4 Int's.

I dont know about the cowboys been back after today, Romo is a joke like i have said before. You guys thought T.O was the cancer,Get rid of Romo while u can. His first season was a major fluke + he dropped the infamous field goal snap. Romo is a joke. No wonder Jessica left him.

On the other hand the 49ers are looking tuff so far we won our first 2 very very important games against division rivals Arizona & Seahawks. Did you guys Catch thos 78,79 Yrd rushing TD's By Frank Gore. Cowboys should start looking for a QB right now all Romo does is throw up prayers and hope Williams, Crayton come down with it. when he throws passes underneath its usually picked off. his passing game relies on little short passes to the RB's on the flats or a little 5-6 yrd dump offs to witten & the big deep prayers downfield. I actually thought he was the cowboys next troy aikmen but hes far from that.

Pittsburgh, PA. The Super Bowl XLIII Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, the only team to win six titles, will soon be loosing half of those trophies. After a meeting between NFL Commissioner Rodger Gadel and President Barack Hussain Obama, Obama decided to redistribute half of their Steeler Super Bowl victories and trophies to less fortunate teams in the league.

“We live everyday in the country that invented the Super Bowl.” said Obama “We are not about to lose this Great American tradition in the wake of these difficult times.”

Obama’s plan calls for the Steelers, who are a successful NFL team, to give half of their Super Bowl trophies to teams that are not successful or have not been as successful as the Steelers. “The Detroit Lions are just as much a part of the same fiber of the NFL as the Steelers and they should, no rather will, be entitled to a Super Bowl Trophy as well.” Obama explains in his plan that he has imposed on Godel and the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, who by virtue of hard work, excellent team play, stellar draft choices, responsible investing of free agents, careful hiring of coaches and excellent community service and commitment to their fans, has prospered greatly during the past 30 years and have won six Super Bowl Trophies. But President Barack Hussain Obama’s plan calls for the Pittsburgh Steelers to carry the larger burden of the NFL’s less successful teams.

Obama went on to further proclaim, “In these difficult times we are all in this to work together. We must reclaim the NFL Championship Dream for every team, for every city and for every fan.”

“My plan will not affect 31 of the 32 teams in the league.” Obama assures. That’s over 95 percent of the teams in the NFL will not have to worry about loosing any Super Bowl Trophies. “The worst teams in the NFL and the teams that can’t seem to get a break and win a championship will no longer have to worry about going without a title.” Obama promises. “We are a country and league of hope. We all need to make a change. It does not matter the color of the teams uniforms, the personal decisions that the teams make or their performance but rather if they are a member of this great American league.”

The Super Bowl XLIII trophy will be redistributed to the 0-16 Detroit Lions. Through no fault of their own incompetence, the Lions could not manage a victory all season and this trophy will help ease the pain of their lack of performance and give them hope once again. The redistribution of Super Bowl XL trophy will go directly to the Steeler’s division rival the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals who also have fallen on hard times have never won a Super Bowl.

This victory will bring a smile to hundreds of Bengal fans all over the world as they can now celebrate. Finally, one of the Steeler’s two Super Bowl victories over the Dallas Cowboys will go back to the Cowboys since the league needs to provide hope in the face of difficulty and provide hope in the face of uncertainty. This is a heavy burden for the Steelers but together we can all prosper.

All hope is not lost for Pittsburgh fans, Barack Hussain Obama has another plan in place. Obama has meet with MLB and commissioner Bud Selig on a similar plan. The New York Yankees will redistribute two of their world series trophies to the Pittsburgh Pirates as a supplement to their loosing 16 straight seasons and counting. This plan will help stimulate the Pirates and enable them to regain the American Dream.

Barack Hussain Obama will be meeting with the NHL and Michael Phelps in the upcoming weeks as this issue is high on his agenda for “Hope and Change.”

Steelers must now share their wealth and fruits of their success and hard work.

JaMarcus Russell (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8255/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8255/news), Quarterback, Oakland Raiders (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/oak/). This is becoming a farce. Quarterbacks do not play this way and keep their job. It just doesn't happen.

Maybe if it's a rookie, and the team's going nowhere, and there are no better options, you might tolerate this kind of play. But this is a third-year guy, and there are better options, like, oh, say, I don't know ... any other quarterback in professional football.

In three of four games, he's had a completion percentage of 40 percent or lower. In the one he didn't, he had zero touchdowns and two interceptions. His completion percentage on the year is 39.8%. Of the quarterbacks in the league with 100 or more attempts, his quarterback rating is the lowest, by 23.1 points. Watching him play quarterback makes people feel sad, all day.

I don't believe that any sane coach would let him keep his job as a starter. And I believe that Tom Cable is a sane coach. Therefore, I've got to believe that this decision is coming from somewhere else, like, for example, the JaMarcus Russell of owners.

WEEI.com NFL Power Rankings - Week 5 10.06.09 at 1:48 am ET By Joe Zarbano (http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/sports/newengland/football/patriots/author/joey-zarbano/)
The Saints come marching in to the No.1 spot in this week’s WEEI NFL Power Rankings. After a strong performance against the Jets, New Orleans and Drew Brees find themselves on top of the football world. The Saints are joined by the Colts, Giants, Jets and Patriots in the Top 5. The Ravens drop from the top 5 to No. 7 after losing to New England on Sunday.
The Broncos improved to 4-0 and jump to the No. 13 spot. This Sunday will show us what the Broncos are made of, as they will likely face their toughest test yet in New England. The Patriots will play their fourth straight game against an undefeated team — New England is the first team to start a season against five unbeaten teams since the 1986 Philadelphia Eagles. For more on this, click here. (http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/sports/newengland/football/patriots/2009/10/05/another-week-another-undefeated-team/)
Lastly, congratulations to Brett Favre on becoming the first quarterback in the NFL to defeat all 32 teams. That is quite a feat. Favre, Adrian Peterson, Jared Allen and the rest of the Vikings are at No.6.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/saints_45.gif1. (Last Week, 4) 4-0-0 Who would have thought the Saints defense would be the difference maker four weeks into the season? New Orleans continues to cause turnovers and then capitalize on them. The Saints have 10 interceptions, and are tied at second place in the NFL with plus 7 in the takeaway/giveaway department.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/ind.gif2. (3) 4-0-0 Peyton Manning and the Colts offense are at the top of almost every offensive statistic possible. They rank first in passing yards, passing touchdowns and receiving yards. The Colts are firing all all cylinders.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/nyg.gif3. (1) 4-0-0The Giants have only their weak schedule to blame for falling a couple spots in the rankings. The undefeated G-Men are one of the best teams in the NFL and will be competing for the top spot all year. Many are looking forward to Week 6, when the Saints and Giants square off in New Orleans. Eli Manning has stepped up his game another notch this year after many thought his game would suffer with the loss of Plaxico Burress. The Giants rank 1st in the NFL in total defense.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/jets_45.gif4. (5) 3-1-0 Mark Sanchez and the Jets came back to earth on Sunday in New Orleans, where Sanchez finally looked like a rookie. However, the New York defense is still one of the best in the league, allowing an average of 14.3 points per game. The Jets will take advantage of their easy schedule over the next five weeks — they will play Miami, Buffalo, Oakland, Miami and Jacksonville leading up to their rematch against the Patriots in Foxboro.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/patriots_45.gif 5. (6) 3-1-0 New England’s defense has shut down two top offenses in back to back weeks without its best defensive player (Jerod Mayo). This defense can only get better. Brandon Meriweather is flying around the field making plays and they have received valuable contributions from unexpected players like Brandon McGowan and Gary Guyton.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/vikings_45.gif6. (7) 4-0-0 Jared Allen showed the country that Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson aren’t the only two players on the team. Favre said it best when he called Jared Allen a “beast.” Number 4 is playing great after four weeks and he says his arm feels good.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/bal.gif7. (2) 3-1-0 I have a feeling the Ravens will get a chance to see the Patriots again this season. Baltimore has great talent on both sides of the football.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/49ers_45.gif8. (14) 3-1-0 Patrick Willis is leading this 49ers defense, one of the best in the league. San Francisco is allowing 13.3 yards per game on average and rank 2nd in points allowed in the NFL. Plus, if the rumors are true about Michael Crabtree, the 49ers could be adding a major piece to their offense.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/steelers_45.gif 9. (9) 2-2-0 The Steelers running game led by Rashard Mendenhall, who finally showed up on Sunday. Ben Roethlisberger threw for over 300 yards for the second time this year and seems to be finding a great rhythm with tight end Heath Miller. When Troy Polamalu returns, this Pittsburgh team will be one of the best in the league.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/atl.gif10. (12) 2-1-0Matt Ryan and the Falcons will have had two weeks to prepare for the 49ers come Sunday. They will be fresh and ready to show the NFL world if they are for real or not.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/bears_45.gif11. (11) 3-1-0 Chicago goes into its bye week with a three-game winning streak. Jay Cutler and the offense have started off great. However, the defense has allowed the second-most 17th-most yards in the NFL. That is an area the Bears will need to improve on if they want continued success this season.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/bengals_45.gif12. (10) 3-1-0 The Bengals drop down a few spots after almost losing to one of the most pathetic teams in football, but you have to love watching this team. They’re playing with confidence and tenacity, and it’s fun to watch. Cedric Benson said it best after the game: “We had nothing to lose…It’s either a tie or a loss, and a tie is pretty much a loss anyway.” I couldn’t agree more! Who wants to see a tie after five quarters of football?
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/broncos_45.gif13. (17) 4-0-0 It’s tough to ignore the 4-0 record and the outstanding defensive play by the Broncos. It wouldn’t be fair of me not to mention that the Broncos are allowing just 6.3 points a game on average, or the fact that they lead the league in sacks with 15. With all that said, I’m still not sold. The lack of talent on the opposing teams they have faced is alarming. Let’s see what they can do against the Pats.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/packers_45.gif14. (13) 2-2-0 The Packers inability to protect Aaron Rodgers was certainly exposed on Monday night. Rodgers was constantly forced out of the pocket and sacked eight times.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/phi.gif15. (15) 2-1-0 After a week of rest, Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook both returned to practice on Monday. The bye week came at a much needed time for the Eagles.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/sdg.gif16. (8) 2-2-0 The Chargers have underpeformed through the first four games. Shawne Merriman hasn’t become that unstoppable force that made him so great before he got injured.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/jaguars_45.gif17. (22) 2-2-0 The Jaguars are on the way up after beating the Titans by 20 points. Jacksonville proved its offense can pass the ball just as well as run the ball. Garrard threw for 323 yards and three TD’s. He’s only thrown one interception this year.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/cardinals_45.gif18. (19) 1-2-0 The Cardinals have jumped to a slow start. Let’s see if they can use this bye week to their advantage and get Kurt Warner and the offense going again.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/texans_45.gif19. (23) 2-2-0 Currently, the best football team in Texas. However, that’s not saying much.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/cowboys_45.gif20. (16) 2-2-0 Tony Romo is the mayor of Struggle City, USA. Once again Romo fails to get the job done when he is needed most. I don’t understand the strategy of constantly throwing the ball towards the best cornerback in the NFL.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/dolphins_45.gif21. (24) 1-3-0 The Dolphins shocked everybody on Sunday after they routed the Bills without Chad Pennington. Miami faces another tough test Monday night against the Jets.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/seahawks_45.gif22. (20)1-3-0 Seattle’s defense was no match for Peyton Manning and the Colts. The Seahawks have been nagged by many injuries to key players like Matt Hasselbeck, offensive lineman Walter Jones, and defensive end Patrick Kerney.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/ten.gif23. (18) 0-4-0 Starting Vince Young at quarterback won’t fix any problems, because Kerry Collins isn’t the reason this team is struggling right now. Tennessee has one of the worst pass defenses in the league and ranks 26th in points allowed.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/bills_45.gif24. (21)1-3-0 The Bills haven’t been able to get anything done offensively. It’s time to simplify the offense and find a way to move on from the no-huddle strategy.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/panthers_45.gif25. (25)The Panthers hopefully used their bye week trying to solve their turnover problems. Carolina is ranked last in the league in the giveaways/takeaways category with a minus-eight.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/lions_45.gif26. (26)1-3-0 I don’t think anyone really expected the Lions to beat the Bears. Matthew Stafford injured his knee in the loss to Chicago, but according to reports, only is suffering from some swelling.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/redskins_45.gif27. (27)2-2-0 After an embarrassing loss to the Lions last week, I expected the Redskins to come out of the gate strong against a bad Tampa team. I think it’s time for the end of the Jason Campbell era if the Redskins want to win games.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/chiefs_45.gif28. (30)0-4-0 The Chiefs third-down woes continued against the Giants on Sunday. Kansas City converted just 2-of-15 attempts on third down following an 0-for-11 performance against the Eagles last week.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/browns_45.gif29. (31) 0-4-0 After a devastating loss, Browns WR Braylon Edwards allegedly punched a man in the face at a club later that night. This is after Edwards didn’t make a single catch in the game against the Bengals. The Browns have serious problems.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/buccaneers_45.gif30. (29)0-4-0 The Bucs are at the bottom of every important team statistic in football — they’re 27th in total offense, 29th in total defense, 25th in points allowed and 28th in points scored.
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/raiders_45.gif31. (28) 1-3-0“Bad Boys, Bad Boys, watcha gonna do?” … when they arrest your head coach?
http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/rams_45.gif32. (32) 0-4-0 The Rams turn the ball over more than they take it away. In addition, they allow an average of 27 points a week and they rank 30th in total offense.

yup just as I forsaw the 49ers came extremlly close to give the Colts there first lose yesterday. With Manning going against a stellar defense he wont be as productive, Frank gore broke on the first drive for a 65 yrd TD run after that it looked like colts were bringing in the 8 man fronts to stop the run at all costs. 49ers are the only team this year to prveant manning a passing TD PLUS ended his streak of 100+ snaps without being sacked. The end results ended up being the colts getting desprate and resulted to trickery with a HB toss that was stopped the first time then after the end of the 3rd quarter they ran the same play but this time Addai was able to get his pass off for the winning TD.

Even though the 9ers have lost 4 straight im still happy with the results im looking ahead and saying we are going to win the next 5 game straight. As we face weak opponents coming up.

As a diehard colts fan I will give the 49ers credit on Sunday.. They did play well on the road. And although Peyton didn't throw a TD, he did throw for 350 yards and didn't throw any picks. Colts had well over 400 yards of offense. So San Fran got a little lucky with a bend, but didn't exactly break type game. After that first long td drive their offense was pretty inept. They didn't turn it over a bunch but they let Alex Smith get sacked or hit on virtually every pass play of the second half.

With that being said I also agree that the 49ers are going to rattle off some wins and I think they make the playoffs this year.

Yea I hope Arizona keeps losing , I think its going to come down to the Game between 9ers & Arizona in December to determean whos going to be the NFC West Champs. What the Niners did well Was stop Indys Run Game Addai was pretty Much a non factor in the game besides that TD toss he made in the 4th.
The only turnover 9ers gave was kinda luck on indys part. Which was that tipped pass for a interception (Not the QB's Fault) and resulted in a field goal.

It was a very good game though. Everyone & there momma was saying it was going to be a blow out. I knew it was going to be a close 1 from the get go. I know what the 9ers are capable of doing when everyone executes.

Heres some NFL AFC Championship Game stats before u make your picks for this weekend

Since 1990 The team with the most rushing attemps wins 87% of the time.
Since 1990 The team with the most rushing yards wins 80% of the time.
Since 1990 The team with the fewest turnovers wins 85 % of the time.

Jets in the playoff this year have rushed for 799 Yards In the last 4 games averaging just under 200 Yards per game, While the Colts are ranking in the bottom this year in rushing Attemps & Yards this post season

Jets have averaged 2+ Turnovers in the last 4 games including the playoffs
Peyton Manning has thrown 12 Interceptions in the last 9 games He only had 5 interceptions in his first 8games, And threw for 2+ Interceptions in the last 4 games.

Knowing these stats im predicting the Jets win BIG
the Colts have no one else besides Reggie Wayne to go down feild to, Who is going to be shut down by Darrelle Revis The only way Colts win this game is if Dallas Clark has a BIG game Joesph Addai will also be shut down by the Jets excellent defensive Line

Awesome handicapping, how much did you win?

Vikings fan buys newspaper ad to reach out to Brett Favre (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Vikings-fan-buys-newspaper-ad-to-reach-out-to-Br?urn=nfl,225316)

By MJD (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner?author=MJD)

A lot of people say a lot of things about Brett Favre (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/1025/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/1025/news), but one thing is certain: Those who like Brett Favre, really really like Brett Favre. The man just has a way of captivating people.
Tuesday, a gentleman named Ben Nelms has purchased a full-page color ad in the Hattiesburg American (http://www.channel3000.com/sports/22710506/detail.html) to share his personal thoughts with Favre. He says he wrote it in under five minutes, and it reads that way. I don't mean that in a negative way; I just mean that it reads like an emotional, unfiltered outpouring straight from the heart of a fan.
Here's the ad, (and many thanks to Mr. Nelms for sharing it with Shutdown Corner):
