My Dad and I hit up Newport harbor this morning on the incoming tide. The action was slow (for me) as I only managed ONE spottie in about 3.5 hours. We just couldn't seem to get the drifts we wanted, but my old man took it in stride and schooled me catching 4 or 5 nice spotties and some micro sand bass. It was an overcast morning and the fog burnt off right as we were leaving around 12:30. All fish were caught on 3 inch big hammers and released safely.
P.S. the reason I wasnt to frustrated about the lack of catching was this past week I was visiting some friends up in tahoe. One of the mornings when everyone slept in I hiked up to one of the local lakes and I C&Red about 40 (thats right 40) like the one you see in the last picture. I am about 99% sure they are cutthroat trout. So it was all good.
