You can take Elsinore off your places to fish list. There was a massive algae bloom in late June when the aerators weren't on and the oxygen levels plummeted to levels so low that even some of the hardy catfish were not spared.

I viewed the devastation this past weekend. It seems like the south end didn't get hurt as bad as the north end. There were dozens of big wipers, LMB, crappie and catfish scattered among-st the hoards of dead carp and threadfin shad. This is a crippling blow to a premier trophy crappie lake. We found several crappie carcases that were pushing 4lbs.

There is no time like the present to go in there and gill-net or electro shock to get the carp under control now that the gamefish popualtions have been decimated.

That is tragic. Just as that place was becoming a success story. Another great example of proper fisheries management.
