After getting an almost daily reports from Bob this past week... I appealed to his generosity for an invite to board the Salmonoid Phenomenon for a Striper Kill session. Since Striper is about the only fish I keep to eat, this would be a perfect time to stock up the freezer. I called Phuong (Blackwater) to see if he wants to tag along and of course, he jumped at the chance to fish with the one & only, T/O.

Conditions: Warm, sunny, breezy day. Water temp. 76 degrees. Water clarity, good. Baitfish plentiful. Lake Lice traffic light to moderate.

Techniques: Trolling bucktail jigs and various swimbaits.
Casting Lucky Crafts and Krocodiles into sporadic boils.

Time on the water: 6:00am to 3:00pm (day cut short due to boat issues).

Fish count: OUT OF CONTROL! Constant double & triple hook-ups all day. Well over a hundred Stripers. All schoolie class size of 1-2 lbs. The big models eluded us today. Kept three limits (30 fish). We limited out by 10:00am and catch & release for the rest of the day.

In line before sunrise preparing for the Striper slaying session.

Geordy having engine problems at the launch ramp... as usual. He finally got the engine to start. We shouldn't laugh, later on, we would encounter our own equipment malfunction.

The Striper fishing was insane, one hook up after another... Double rods hook ups were a common occurance, double & triple fish on the same rig often. Number wise, it was the best day I've ever had fishing for Stripers. Too bad they were all schoolies.
I'll let the pictures tell the story of our day.

That sounds like a great trip. Thanks for the pictures. Well, at least for most of them.

As far as being towed in; I guess it beats walking back!

I was marveling on Friday at how well Bob's motor runs. We were talking for quite a while, then I realized that his motor was running. It sounds like it should be pretty easy to get it going again.

Wide open striper bite sounds pretty good to me regardless of the size, nice job out there guys. Sorry to hear about the boat issues Bob....hope it is a cheap quick fix.

nice pics and post.....good times I'm sure by the look of the pics, even with the mechanical difficulties.

You guys slayed them down good..

Nothing like an action packed day....soon those BIG FEESH will be prominent, right now it's hit and miss but it's certainly beginning.

You guys had a much more fruitfull day than me, I had a rough time in the salt..

Maybe I should have went to my back yard instead of running 3/4's of a tank of gas chasing salty dawgs...

No worries, I'll have my crack at them jailbirds this week b4 work.

Good to see trolly out there on the lake, I look forward to a report from him about how he had to tow you guys back.

I hope the boat gets up and running soon, thats very uncommon for Bob's boat to have a glitch but we all gotta remember this is machinery not rocket science, at least that happened after you got on a solid slay.

Good work Bob on leading these guys to a victorious day...I tip my fishing hat to you and everyone out there on that bloodletting !

Nice job guys,
Gary

Damn, just imagine if those stripers were 4-5 pound fish. That is some major numbers even with a short day. Phuong probably accidentally sat on the shift gear and broke it. I'm surprised that he couldn't fix it, he can fix anything. What a great day, nice pix and report Art.

What I really think happened is that king Neptune had enough of you guys slaying his little stripers that he jammed the gears on Bob's boat. I miss going out with your guys, i think my turn in the rotation is coming up Arthur. Phuong, stop taking cuts dude! What an amazing day. Stripers everywhere we went on the lake, slamming everything we dragged behind the boat. As soon as you let the line out, WHAM, fish on! My mom was so happy that I brought her some fish. :Big Grin: Thanks Bob for the great day of fishing and the little something extra that you brought me as a gift. Very cool of you. Let me know the cost of repairing the gear shifter on your boat and Wingnut will take care of it. Give Art the bill Bob, I'll take care of it.

Love the younger Arthur pic. T.O. ,Hitts and I will be seeing you soon on the water. See all you Guys at Legends III. Cindy:Big Smile:

With fishing that great, it's a sham I didn't stop more fish on the troll on Sat.
Sad, hey the boat ran great after a little tuning!
I may have to give her another try on Sat!
After that...I can here the sound of pounding surf, the tail beat of deans. There are yellows and dodos with my name on them. Topless is getting lonely. The gaff, Mr nasty is getting rusty, he calls out for blood, blood, blood... and that fishy smell.
Hey Bob good luck with your boat. On mine all I had to do was pull the power head, split the case, and replace the crank, a rod, a piston, and the seals! Not the best year for the Rude, but she is running great again! Come fishy fishy!

the pics do all the talk, good going on the slay, sorry to hear about the boat problems, the striper must be happy...
The Stripers are lucky that we had to cut the day short, that's for sure.

Another GREAT trip with T/O.

About as good as your last trip (if memory serves), maybe a little better. Good going.

FUN and FISH and FRIENDS=GOOD TIMES

LW
Oh, this trip was much better, fish count wise. All quantity, no quality, but it was so much fun. :Big Grin:

Glad you guys haD a very good day of fishing despite the boat problems......Would love to fish with TO one of these times, but too spensive for me.......Maybe I will get lucky and win that trip lol........Man i could do some braggin then..... Or maybe I should just buy my own boat and not worry about finding a fishing partner that already has one lol......Seriously, I am trying to get over the blindness of that crack pic...... See you all at Legends III
OFG
T/O is money well spent Chris. I'll be rooting for ya to win that raffle prize. See you in a few weeks!

Way to slay despite the technical problems!
It could have been an epic Striper slay if we had a full day.

Great report!! Man, I started cracking up when I saw the striper in the mouth pic!!!! And that is quite the 80's hat you got there in that last pic Art.
Trolly is a character... nonstop laughs when he is around.
Hey, I got that cap signed by Eddie Van Halen at one of the US Festivals in the 80's. Good times!

Even with a boat break down you still had a great trip. Great pics!
Could have been even better, but I'm not complaining.

You guys make a great team out there.

STRIPER KILLIN WITH T,O,,,,,OOOOYAAAAAAAA
Thanks TB, you go get yourself some too man.

had a great time arrived at ten thirty and trolled and farmed fish sorry i ment i caught my limit. Thanx for the food and reward wingnut. Great to see the gang again.Just emptied the boat completly and poured a container of bleach and half a thing of giant ajax and scrubbed and washed the boat down.I hope it doesnt scare the cats from the boat.lolol thanx again bob ,blackwater and wingnut. you guys were on FIRE.
Chris, you're a total crack up man. You had us rolling... thanks for the Jelly Beans and the fruits and for towing us back to the launch ramp. Glad to hear that you hosed the tub down. Your neighbors was probably ready to call in the Hazmat Team.

GREAT Pics!!! Thanks for that!
You're welcome sir.

All but one pic I guess... It wasn't the motor, the gear lever got stuck. Bob puts his equipment through more wear & tear than just about anybody. He pushes himself & his gear to the extreme to get his friends and clients on fish. He is the BEST!

Wide open striper bite sounds pretty good to me regardless of the size, nice job out there guys. Sorry to hear about the boat issues Bob....hope it is a cheap quick fix.

You did WHAT???!!! How are you going to recognize your boat now?

See you soon Trolly!

TD
The Striper was totally nuts, never seen anything like that. Only wished that it could have been some bigger models mixed in, but we laid waste to the schoolie population there. See you at Legends Aaron.

Wow, you guys did real well!
Very well!

nice pics and post.....good times I'm sure by the look of the pics, even with the mechanical difficulties.

You guys slayed them down good..

saweeet

Nice job guys,
Gary
Would have liked to see you out there laying waste to the schoolie population too Gary. They do need some thinning out. We were glad that Trolly decided to come out and play... perfect timing. I get lucky, even when I'm unlucky... if ya know what I mean. I read you report about your Sunday in the salt... that's a tough day, but I commend your fortitude to chase the prize to the very end. We all have to pay our dues at one time or another. I have a feeling that you're gonna be out at Castaic very soon... go gettem', I feel sorry for those Linesides.

Great job out there Bob, Arthur & Phuong. Too bad the big fishes did not show for you guys and boat problem too......This is the first time I heard Bob has a boat problem......

KPN.
The big boys will come soon enough Khanh. Nothing can stop T/O & the Phenom... you can slow them down for a bit, but not for very long.

Damn, just imagine if those stripers were 4-5 pound fish. That is some major numbers even with a short day. Phuong probably accidentally sat on the shift gear and broke it. I'm surprised that he couldn't fix it, he can fix anything. What a great day, nice pix and report Art.
If those fish were in the 4-5 lbs class, they wouldn't all fit in the livewell. Or as we were calling it "Phuong's Playhouse" for the day.
Yeah, Phuong can fix a multi-million dollar piece of high-tech weapontry, but he can't fix a gear shifter, go figure. :Big Smile:

TO is giving the Trout a nice little repreive as he hunts the elusive Striper (elusive at least for me).
The Trout may be his first love... but the Linesides will always have his heart.

One epic trip after another, you're a fish magnet bro.
D.D.
Luckier than most, that's all.

Thanks for the fish brother, you can bring them by anytime. How do I get into the rotation to fish with T.O.? Those stripers are lucky that you guys had boat problems or more would feel the pain. hehe
Enjoy bro, plenty more where that came from. The rotation to fish with Bob and I is full for the year. But I'm taking all offers into consideration.

Great job on the stripers! My last outing at Castaic was a total SkunkFest--not one stinking bite the whole day! And you guys literally load the boat! Next time I head to "CastAche" can I borrow some of your good karma--mine seems to have expired?!
Ouch, sounds like a rough day. Hang in there man and don't give up on Castaic. It's just a matter of time until she will pay you dividens on the time you invest fishing there. Karma is a funny thing... it doesn't run out, but you have to replenish it often to keep it going.

I've got good news. Good Karma doesn't expire. It's reincarnated!
Well said...

Looks like its about that time again. What I really think happened is that king Neptune had enough of you guys slaying his little stripers that he jammed the gears on Bob's boat. I miss going out with your guys, i think my turn in the rotation is coming up Arthur. Phuong, stop taking cuts dude! Bob, you da man.

Binh
Funny, that's what we were saying. Poseidon put a stop to our little Striper massacre. They'll still be there... and we will be back!
As for the rotation, you guys work it out between yourselves... I already have my permanent spot on the Phenom.

Looks like you guys had a great time on this day

good fishing reports from Castiac stripers are constantly biting.
One of the best times I've ever had fishing for Stripers and Bob made it happen.

RON THE SHIFTER LEVER GOT STUCK IN NEUTRAL ,I TOOK IT LAKESIDE TODAY, THEY WILL FIX THE CABLE AND DO THE ANNUAL OIL AND FILTER CHANGES ,PUT HER ON THE COMPUTER TO MAKE SURE SHES RUNNING RIGHT,SHOULD HAVE HER BACK AT THE END OF THE WEEK IVE GOT TO GET YOURE GUIDE TRIP AND A BUNCH OTHERS DONE THIS MONTH,,,,,,t/o
Give me the bill Bob, I'll have Phuong will take care of it to pay you back for the favor you did for him. Remember what I said... we take care of each other.

It was great to fish with the Rock Stars of FNN again. And Trolly, you are quite a comedian, see you at Legends.
That was a fun day wasn't it? I didn't even care that we had to cut it a little short, we absolutely killed it out there. I know that you don't get a chance to get out there very often so I let you haul in most of the fish. How does your arms feel today my friend? Quite a workout huh? Next stop for you is a trip with me to the surf to pay Mr. Flat Head a visit.

What a great post---LMAO--really!

Seeing the wounded Phenom beached like that makes a great case for aluminum---
The Phenom will be back in action by the time your read this report Sid.

Great! I was a little worried.

I'm looking forward to the guide trip with you. I'm sure even a hardhead like me can pick up a few things.
You think you know... but you don't, unless you go with T/O. You will learn quite a few tricks, that I can assure you.

Lovin' all the pics Arthur. The one of Trolly is a classic. He's always showing parts of his body. It looks like you Guys had a FABULOUS TIME. Thanks for the report. Thanks Cindy, glad to see you back on the boards again. You & Armando will have a blast fishing with Bob. get ready to fill up the fridge with some yummy Striper fillets.
That pic was taken in the 80's. I think I was about 15 at the time and that was at Puddingstone. See you at Legends III!

Great to hear the boat is in good running order Karl. Fresh or salt, go get them and please your blood thirsty desires.

Them little boogers were fun to catch all day. We caught limit on top water. They were boiling everywhere all day. Too bad the big ones weren't out to play. Lots of LMB offshore. It was good seeing you guys out there catch schoolies.
I was almost ready to pass out on our boat feeling ill most of the day. My diagnosis perscribes a dose of all day fishing without the kids. LOL Well, it made me feel a bit better...

That one pass that we made by you guys near the floating potty palace where we had a double hookups... I can see them boiling right behind your boat. Good to see you guys out there, funny, I remember asking Bob "Hey, where are the kids?" :Big Grin:

Dinner was great tonight, Rib eye steaks at The Ramp rocks! :Big Grin:
