Had the pleasure to fish with Chris (Rambogottafish) on his boat today. Arrived at his house shortly before 6:00 AM, on the water at 6:10 AM. The weather was perfect, slight breeze, air temps in low 70's, little ripples on the water, Water temp ranged from 77* early, and 79* later in the day.
Started off fishing the south side of the dam, throwing Ikas, Senkos, reaction baits, and a small BBZ for nothing. We decided to break our normal pattern, and head to the point between the swim beach and site 11/ 12. Here we continued drop shotting, and throwing Ikas, and Senkos. Chris suggested we position the boat in abour 2' of water, and throw towards deeper water, fish on, Chris strikes first, landing a 1.5 lb'er on a Ika. Next, was my turn, throwing the drop shot, I landed my first bass of 4 lbs 4 oz.
With no more luck, we continue throwing plastics along the north shore at site 11/ 12, we contined to the point on the shore running north/ south. Next, we moved to the island, located huge bait balls, but could not get any takers.
We continued to the south side of the island, Chris lands another drop shotting, it was a good nice fish of 4 lb 10oz, gave a good fight, but no match for Chris. Later I was able to land another around a lb on the drop shot. We continued fishing the south side of the island, saw another boat land a 10 lb'er on a crank bait, since it slowed for us, we decided to try throwing a variety of cranks, Chris farmed one, I laned one about 1.5 lb's, and farmed a small one on my last cast of the day.
Being invited on Chris's boat, is always a privledge, and a pleasure. Even if I get skunked, it's a great time. Thanks againg Chris, I won't talk about the one that schooled me. Thanks again. Here's a couple pics of our biggest fish.
