24hr session 8/7-8/8

well as i said b4 was going to sarl regardless of hearing the great deal of $29.95
for the 24hrs, so it was a plus. i told my girl that i wanted to taker her 2 lil sisters
fishing since we couldnt b4 with car she used to have. so got all the gear into the
car and was out the door by 2pm cuz we still had to get some grub and mantels
for the latern. after that headed to the lake.

got there and was third in line. not bad at all. found out to they have a extended
nite session now that starts at 12:30 and out by 11pm. only $32 but only allows u
to keep 2 more fish. went into the shop and got some worms and waited til 4:30
when they let us in. after we paid headed to the spot i wanted and set up the poles,
tent and chairs. people would catch a fish hear and there for the next few hours but
nothing steady. this guy that was next to me was talkin bout it was slow too. his gf
or wife went over to the catfish lake and she would call him every like 10 minutes
it seemed to go over to her. he would come over with 2 fish everytime until he
decided to join her. i skooted over into his spot to get closer to where i wanted
to fish.

we had told my girl's parents to come also as i printed 2 of the 9.99 coupons. so
around 8pm they showed up and relaxed. they made some totrta's for us along
with a nice camp fire and smores for the girls.

the lake wasnt packed but they had a good amount there. RV'Z and tents. most
where at levits corner to la palma point. ok so back to the fishing. by like almost
1am these other guys fishing either decided to move or pack it up since it was
slow. there loss was my gain cuz a couple hours later the fish just turned the
switch on. u seen them coming up to the the top or shore not more then 5 ft
away from me, eating the insects. i was getting hit alot. not more than a minute
or 2 after tossing my bait out.

bait & set up of choice: shrimp/marshmellow combo with 7ft cabelas
whuppin stick with 8# test line.

i only caught 4 with the 4th getting away cuz the basket some how opened
when i went to pick it up. i lost a few fish right at shore spitting the hook out.
alot of the fish wouldnt commit also. just mess with ya bait. by 6am the bite
just went dead. i was told that also by the guy who was next to me earlier the
nite b4 that happened last week also. so come 7am my girl and two lil sisters
where up. we called it a day then cuz she had to work later that day and so
did i. packed everything back into car and we were off. well thats my adventure.

Nice report and great pics. I know that spot! LOL. So the bite didn't pick up after 11pm? I haven't done the 24hrs for awhile I've been leaving before 11pm and it's been slow. Good job anyway. What was the hot bait? Thanks for sharing.

thx man...i had it in the report but i seperated it so easier 2 read. but it was shrimp/mellow combo. was slow the whole time til 3am when they went on a feeding frenzy til it got light.thats my spot of choice. im sure u know why :LOL:

Hey; great post OZ!!! Its good to see you & the family made it out. Four from the shore is pretty good! I've had the same experience losing fish with that damned basket!!! I arrived right at 4:30 and the line was already going in. I really wanted to see if I could catch up with you or saintarv before we went in, just to say "hi"; i remembered you said you would have your dodgers cap on, and i see the goatee; maybe next time. i went to the big lake, i caught three, but the biggest one snapped my line while trying to net him. Did you see the moon rise?; that was pretty spectacular! Well for $9.95 i'll be back next week, and i hope to do a all nighter in the next couple of weeks. shore fishing lives on!!!

You went Friday night also? I didn't get a chance to fish this weekend. Maybe next Friday and possibly do the 24hr cause it seem they come out to play late in the eve. :LOL:

Were you guys fishing right around there couple of seasons ago and a little hail storm went over? Some guy in a boat out in front of you got pelted and all he could do was to lay down and try and avoid any lightning? The folks I'm thinking of had a blue canopy....

yea that was the first fish i caught that night...i was like wtf...but not more than 10 minutes later, i got a nice 2lber. bigger then the one i lost. if you saw a PT cruiser there that was us. next time for sure man. yea the moon was cool.

i just need a new one. it was my uncles. so thats why i havent really replaced it. i usually use stringers also. im just gonna put em in the cooler net time lolll
