Socal Bassman

Been busy with work and family get togethers for the past few weeks and haven't had much time to spend on the boat until today. So, after sweating it out for 8 hrs. today, thought I'd share some before and after shots with you.
This is how she was when I bought her. The gel coat was heavily oxidized I couldn't even tell the original color because it was so faded.

Close up of gel coat. It was rough to the touch and couldn't even make out the metal flake. I honestly thought that I was going to have the whole boat re-gel coated.

Bow area. This was probably the worst part of the boat.

Stern. Same story here. You can tell the original logos were replaced sometime before. There are also what seems to be chips/gouges in the gel coat and was filled with Marine Tex.

After 12+ hrs. of wet sanding, compounding, polishing, and waxing until my arms fell off. I finally got one side to show her true colors.

The bow area turned out better than I expected, but I think I'm still going to put a piece of that non slip mat on top to give it a more modern look.

Those tore up numbers were bugging me, so they just had to go.

This has been a fun, yet exhausting, restore project so far. This is my first boat so I'm making sure I take my time to do the job right and not screw anything up. There's still plenty of work to do. I guess you can say that I have just scratched the surface.
