Hi Everyone,
Finally took an old digi camera with me to make the post a little more interesting. Only used it Sunday - but look below to see more.
Nephew Adam and I spent a good 10 hours tubing on the water Saturday mainly working the south side around Metcalfe and Mallard bays during the day. Slow bite, but once we hit Mallard bay (with no wind), we had better luck. I landed 10+ croppie, most were 8-10 inches and a lot of fun on light fly gear. I also picked up one very small trout. Found some carp to play with and finally got some to turn on the fly - even got one to suck it in, but it spit out too quick for me to nab. All the croppie were hit with a slow, smooth, steady retrieve just along the weeds.
Adam picked up 1 nice sized large mouth bass on the fly in Mallard bay and lots of croppie.
About 5pm my bro-in-law picked us up and taxied us to the dam for some early evening trout. Adam didn't land any (but some taps). I landed one very nice 17" but nothing more. Had to get off the water at 7:30 and we were dead tired.
Woke really early Sunday and hit the Observatory area. This time we had fly gear and spinning/casting gear with plastics - and an old camera.

Don’t feel bad for the guys in the boat – the caught lots of bass along with us

Enough? We were on the water for over 10 hours on Sunday and BEYOND TIRED.
I wouldn’t call this WFO. It was hard fishing, most bites were really soft and took a lot of patience and finesse. Only a couple were hard chargers. But I took as many tips from Adam as he could spit out. It got really windy (like always) and had to keep our arms raised high to feel and lift fast on any bites we were getting. I missed another 6 or so bites and Adam must have missed another dozen or more bites.
Cheers!
