Launched the kayak in NPH for a few hours on Sunday with my son. The day started off overcast, then, slowly cleared about mid-day to sunny and slightly breezy conditions. Lot’s of harbor traffic as the day progressed. The water was a bit murky, but, warmer than the last time we fished the harbor.
Anyway, I basically drop shot the Gulp jerk baits. My son used a small jig head on both Gulp jerk shads and Zoom flukes. We also occasionally threw the crank bait and LC. We fished various spots from 15th St. to the harbor bend near the breakwater. Overall, it was a fun day with lots of bites and a nice variety of fish caught. We managed to catch YFCs, spotted bay bass, sand bass and a calico bass. I seemed to have better luck with the drop shot, but my son did well on the jig head. We used a variety of colors, sardine, anchovy, new penny, nuclear chicken, pearl white, shad, white ice. Biggest fish was my son's spotted at just under 15".
