this is our yearly charter. we've definitely stepped up as we used to charter the alicia. normaly go with only 9 guys. this year we have 17. plenty off room on that rig for only 17. hearing the reports from the day before, they dont sound that good for the overnighters. our expectations were not that high. we get loaded, get some bait(which wasnt that bad) and off we go. Paul, says they fished west and had ok albacore fishing on day one of their 2 day and day 2 was a boat ride. he says the YFT bit good yesterday and we were headed that way. only thing is its at 95miles!!! on a overnight? ouch. **** it, lets go!!! rig up my rods and get some shut eye. wake up to ok weather. before i can even brush the **** out of my eyes, we've got out first patty of the day. grab my 30lb rig, toss out and BAM!!! im on. still kinda dark out. several other hookup to fiesty yellows. as im fighting my fish, one guy is coming down and im goin up the rail. cant see if im over or under and ZZZZZZ. sawed. cool. grab my curado 300 w/20lb matched w/ a shikari 909. toss out and BAM!!! im on again. this little reel is a workhorse. 10mins later, 15lb yellow on the boat. cool. knocked the skunk off early. we get 8 on that stop. water is 66 degress. 10 mins later, Paul spots another patty. i cast out with 40lb this time and get bit. i have the drag buttoned on the jx 2 speed, and i could never stop it. right to the kelp. oh well. no more bites on that patty, so we continue south. we cross and edge that went to 69 degrees, and almost instantly, ZZZZZZZZZZ YFT on the jigs!!! Craig, the tank man, had em in the corner for a little bit. i get 1 on that stop. nice 12lber. we continue trolling south and catch up with the fleet. most boats looked stopped. we see some porpise, so we troll through them and ZZZZZZZZ YFT again. this time they came to the corner good. for 15 mins it was WFO!! everybait!! not sure how many we got on that stop, but he decks were bloody!!! i get 2 more. we find the porpise again, and you guessed it ZZZZZZZZZZ. these things came to us real good. so good in fact i put the bait stick down and busted out the uncut 540 and jx with 40lb and skipped jigged 2 more to the boat!!! ****** awsome!! wolfpacks of YFT molesting each other the bite the skip jig!! bounced both of them in the bow!! for 6 casts in a row, i got rolled on. only 2 stuck. when this bite died out, we find the porpise again and this time no trollers out, we slide into em, Craig brails some deans and all hell breaks loose again. this time for only 5 mins, but what a show!! i ve got more than enough fish now, so i start to play around. i grab my sx w/15lb w/ a seeker rod(chovie type 9fter) and cast out. just then Craig says "theres some big boils downswell" im right in the mix, and BAM!!!! i get smoked!! 15o yds of 15lb is vanishing super quick!! now hes got me in the spectra. spectra continues to go out and POP, hook pulls. oh well. one of the deckhands standing right next to me the whole time and says "you hooked one of the bigger ones" not sure how big, but the 150yds of 15 disappeared in less than 5 seconds. wow. almost spooled. next stop, we shut down in the porpise again, throw bait and boils again. i grab the curado/shikari combo, cast out and instantly get picked up. this feels like a better fish. that fish dogged me for 15mins. finally gaff sank into a 20lber. cool! got my limit, plus a good yellow. im happy. Paul, says we need to cut it now, and make a beekine for home as we have a 10 hr ride home. everyones happy with plenty of fish. we shouldve had limits, but our group had some new anglers to our sport, and casualties were high. i myself lost 5. sawed off 4 times and pull hokk on another. some stops were soo good that they would've ate 100lb. my favorite way to catch these things is the skip jig, and i was able to do that on this trip. how awsome is it to watch YFT eat the skipjig? amazing!!! we knocked ema nd everyone went home with plenty of fish, smiles, and anticipation of how much better can it get next year?

the boat is great. rides real well. the flaired bow makes fishing the bow kinda strage, yet after getting used to it, was cool. Paul and his crew worked like a well oiled machine. Paul is a great captain, who went the extra mile to put us on fish. ill be back on that rig again!!! hats off to Paul and the Outer Limits crew. we will be back next year!!!

thanks

Danny

what worked?

black and green zuker feather (stppoed the boat 5 times)

green and yellow broomtail zuker (stopped the boat 6 times)

skip jig

you could've used 50 and got bit, but for these fish, 15-25 is perfect. 50 if your greedy!!!

i used floro, but i dont think it would've mattered, they wanted to die!!
