I got to spend some more time in Oklahoma...did a lot of fishing..did manage to bag two new species did have a three epic battles..2 of which were with a tail hooked fish..one was a carp..nice fight..second was a big cat fish...both were on same crank bait.last one was with my new personal best bass..cat who took my picture had a scale and it read 8lbs plus..
do no know how accurate it was but..i will go along with reading..
now the pictures..quite a few
first few was taken at grand lake O'Cherokee(where i will be when i retire)

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/onimatopwater.jpg
caught a few nice sized spots on different lures rip baits...and on top water..
managed this lanky bass on same top water lure..and he quickly wrapped himself around the docks frame....
was worried line was going to bust..but managed to lip him...and he was mine...
next few days were spend fishing around the many ponds near downtown Tulsa
and there are a bunch here have a look see

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/moreponds.jpg
started one day fishing the Arkansas river ..it was at a low flow..so i hunted the slack pools
did quite well with the rat spots..man these guys were aggressive they reminded me of the smallies in the canals in Blythe but did get a few nice sized ones
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/tonsoftheseratspots.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/nicechunkspotonmyfavspotonarkansasr.jpg
then was off to a place i like to fish called Mohawk park..
and a lake can liken to guasti here....started the ponds and creek the runs through the park
THERE WERE SHAD EVERYWHERE!!!
on with spinner bait and other shad like lures
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/spinnerbait.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/onwobblehead.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/dropshotbass.jpg
best was this carp
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/gotmeacarp.jpg
i foul hooked it and the fight was on...i thought i had on a huge bass..cause i could see them crashing the bait balls...but it was not jumping..odd..ok i thought ..
i finally got my gar...nope it was this carp..man what fun
moved up the the reservoir here too bait was being pounced on...
i tried to match the hatch small rip bait..few casts bingo...hooked into something that made a few runs then became dead weight....and out pops this my first ever and
new species for me a freshwater drum
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/gotmenewtypeoffishafreshwaterdrum.jpg
next day went to a local wee lake in Sand Springs..ok wait let me back up a bit..
i was here a few days ago..and was knocking the rat bass silly .when i hooked into something huge...it peeled drag on my 12lb set up...i got to see it was a huge bass
but then something happened..something that Bill Dance knows all to well...
the lure pulled and shot like a bullet.... said bullet made a bee-line straight to my neither regions...OUCH!!!!! mind you ..this bait has some very very sharp hooks..
talk about adding injury to insult...but i was back...started with the drop shot
new species part two..Warmouth!!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/warmouth.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/warmouthondropshot.jpg
tied on was was my best bait this trip..a new bait from strike king..
was working what is called the dam
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/sandspingslake.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/woundedbutstillfeeding.jpg
got these nice ones..along with many rats..as day got later i worked my way back to where i had my encounter a few days earlier....fan casted the area ..boom something stopped my bait dead in its tracks....mind raced was this the big bass again? ..it took line...made many runs..but did not jump....Hummm..carp? nope a nice catfish
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/gotmeacatfish.jpg
(sorry about the blurry picture fish was not willing to vogue for me)
any way was working the area where i lost my big bass....6pm hits..have to leave soon...
last few cats i say....I get hit by a freight train!!!!solid hook set..this time it jumps...
man my heart stopped i saw it again..that big bass i lost a few days ago..i started don't jump ..don't jump...this time hook did not pull...and i got her...
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/elweirdo/new%20ok/piggybass.jpg
man i was hooting..i did not noticed a group of kids that was standing next to me as i lipped her they hooted too...man what was cool..one had a scale it read 8.10lbs
do not know if it accurate bit that bass was solid..fat ..not like the skinny bass i have caught in the past...
a most memorable trip..all fish were released..some to the dismay of the locals...
thanks for reading

Awesome post, I used to live in Tulsa and fished there a ton. There is so many fishing spots, with so little pressure-it is awesome. Everyone there fishes the big lakes and ignores the little ponds and creeks all over Tulsa, makes for some excellent action.
I'm glad you got out to the Arkansas-most ppl ignore it, unless they fish near the spillway/dam in downtown for catfish. There's tons of spots around the river, I used to hit it up every weekend. The spotted bass in the river are really, really aggressive, great fighters on light line.

Thanks for the report from Tulsa, brings back a lot of good memories.

Cool report, Oklahoma is a fisherman's paradise. My girlfriend's parents are from Oklahoma and we visit once a year. Her dad and I go out and just have fun with the bass, crappie, white bass, and catfish. Lot's of good fishing out there. I might retire there too!

Tthanks for the read.
