......My GF and I took my nephew (4 years of age) fishing for the first time. I opted for balboa park lake. an easy lake. arrived there around 1pm. the kid caught his first fish ever on his first cast and is addicted to fishing for life! he ended up cathing 15 fish on his own. small panfish and carp. this was the best trip for him. i had to drag him off the lake, he didnt want to leave! i have a new fishing partner now. balboa lake is a great place to teach the young ones, and defintely they will catch fish. 4# test and size 10-12 hooks were used. along with the meal, wax, and red worms. he even released all the fish he caught all by himself. way to go nephew! took a couple pics so he can see in the future where he got started.

hey man if you want to catch 2lb tilapia like me, fly line a crawler 10-15 ft from shore and leave if there.the little ones will get the HUGE ones interested. my best 5 fish limit from balboa was 8lbs of fish
