View Full Version : Venice Beach Fish?

What are the fish that i could catch at Venice Pier, Ca How do you catch them?
Are there flounders there?If yes, how do you catch them.
The fish i'm most interested are white sea bass or guitar fish.
Sorry for all these questions,but i'm still new to saltfishing. Thanks for your time.

Thanks, Are there really barracuda at this time of the year at Venice?, but i'm most interested are the kelp or sand bass. Any ideas on how to catch this bad boys?

Yes there could be barracuda... For the barracuda try lures such as krocs or metal jigs...blue and chrome are good patterns. Around late august/october the bonito start to move in and the same method works for those too.

for the kelp and sand bass try 3" swimbaits and reel em in real slow...

or 5" Gulp jerkshads on a jighead or using a dropshot method.

For the shovelnose or other rays I would just carolina rig a big piece of squid...
