Went duct fishing for a few hours this early evening with Ferno and my neighbor. Hot and a little windy. Water barely moving. I started throwing a 3/4oz Trap and nothing, switched to 1oz KPN and had what felt like a bump but nothing after that. Next went to a white bucktail with curly trailer and nothing. Ferno was throwing LC Pointer and nothing. He had a 2 hits on a tube. My neighbor is throwing the A super spot and then small swim shad and nothing. I see very tiny 1" baby fish following once in awhile and also leaping out of the water at times as my lure gets close to the shore. I get the bright idea to go smaller on the lure and put on a 2 3/4" Strike King lipless. A few casts and I get one bump. Several casts later as I was walking the shore I am almost at the end of my retrieve and about 8' from shore I get a good strong hit and set the hook. It is on and it feels like a good one. My drag was a little tight and I was afraid of ripping the lure out but no way I was going to mess with it fighting the fish. It makes several runs and a few very aggressive runs but I finally tire it out. Ferno comes to lip grip for me with the gripper.

It was 32 1/2" long and according to Ferno's scale 11lbs. We all thought it should have weighed more. I weighed it at home with my scale and got 13lb 15oz. We pretty much guessed 14 to 16. It was caught in the daylight but we took the pic when we were done at about 8:30pm.

It was good to finally get out and fish again. A nice healthy DD doesn't hurt either. Striper Mafia crew beat the skunk! :D

Nice DD !

You can check your scales by weighing a gallon of water. One gallon weighs 8 pounds.

Khahn, I tried and managed to get what felt like a hit on the KPN. I saw the tiny fish and thought to downsize the presentation. Moss is gone. There are some weeds here and there but that is ok. It's that sticky, clumpy moss that sucked and it seems to be gone now. Water started to flow more as we left about 8:30pm. From like 5:30pm when we got there until we left it was very slow movement.

Not really a lot of pressure lately but I have a few old school spots too just in case. You should get out there. It's close, it's free and hold some nice fish. That's what keeps me coming back.

Good job, bro. changing the lures and you got em

Thanks Rambo. You coming out anytime soon?

Way to go Zoli! Way to read it brother. glad to hear the weeds are not so bad now, and that they are actually closing the gates down some. You up for another run today/tonight?

Nice catch! Always enjoyed reading your posts while I was a "lurker". They (posts) stopped after I finally registered a few months back. Glad to see you back on 'em.

Thanks. I'm still on the hunt for the 20+ lber I farmed early this year. I still have nightmares from that one, lol. I wish he never came up and got so close to me as to witness what I had on the end of the line.
