Well, another wonderful trip to the eastern sierras, and this trip was one for the books !! Here are some pics of my trip to bridgeport. Stayed at Doc and Al's, in a 2 bdrm cabin overlooking the robinson creek, with my GF and our friends. (who i taught how to fish, tie knots, cast, and catch fish for the first time)

This is my first season fly fishing, and its my new addiction :D
we hit up most of the waters in the area: East Walker, West Walker, virginia lakes, the rez, robinson creek, twin lakes, and green creek.

thanks to the guys at Ken's, Jim, Rick, and the new guy who hooked me up with fly's for the edub. (i forgot my fly vest and all my fly gear at home, except or rods and reels) I was so bummed when i found out. there goes a hundred on new fly gear at ken's:Embarrassed: :Rolls Eyes: it was worth it though, i has a blast catching on the fly rod on the E. Walker !!

and Mundo....it was cool to see you at the rhino, next time i'll shoot you a pm when im coming up again, we'll go stir up some monster browns.

overall we caught around 50 fish, all cp&r except 5 stockers from Trumbull for the bbq. Biggest fish of the trip was mine... going 19" and around 3lbs on the fly rod @ the E. Walker.

fly fishing flys: elk hair caddis was my go to dry fly, and all kinds or nymphs were working....anything with a beadhead and green or black, and red. red san juan worm was killing it too !!
spin fishing: caught fish on inflated crawlers, pb, pink power worms, Rapalas, roostertails, and phoebe.
weapon of choice: Echo Classic Fly Rod - 9ft. 5wt. 4pc. & Ross fly start reel. (great combo)

tight lines...cant wait to go back.

- Travis

Those are some awsome pictures. Those trout are huge! What part of the Walker is the dam at? (If you wish to disclose)

I will be heading into Golden trout area next Sunday. 50 mile round trip in 3 1/2 days.
Its rare to see the ladies enjoying the action as well...You have the best of both worlds.
Thanks for sharing.

DccFisherman, DccTrouserTrout, DiamondBear, Greg M., Sierra Smitty, Fisherman of LB, and TJ.... Thanks for the kind comments, i had a great time fly fishing the sierras !!!

Billy b. - they weather was great !!! not too hot ! one day was windy mid afternoon, and one thunderstorm blew in and was gone in an hour. the pics in the boat are of b.port reservoir. and the other lakes are little virginia, and trumbull lake. trumbull was doing better than L. virginia for us. virginia lakes are beautiful...you should def make a trip up there. (inflated night crawlers were the ticket)

green creek was my first sierras trip ever back in 1981 or so. Haven't been back there since. How are the crowds there? and is the fishing in the meadows any good? (used to have 50 fish fighting to take your spinner in there.) i will have to look at the pics when i get home cause my work blocks them here.

Were you trolling, soaking bait? I wondered if the res was slowing down at all. Don't know where trumbull is.

BTW, the red on the gills of your biggie is amazing.

Congrats, again

i went on a monday or tuesday and nobody was there....we didnt fish the whole creek...we hung out at dynamo pond the whole time....was catching on a green roostertail lure. tons of browns and brookies.

trolling right now is slow on the rez. we were soaking inflated night crawlers on a 2-3 foot leader off of rainbow point.

Trumbull is just up the road from little virginia lake. make a right in the campground and follow the rd. down to the lake. its beautiful and less crowded than little Virginia. same thing - crawlers, pink power wroms, lures, and pb.

ya, i was stoked to catch my big fish of the trip on the flyrod...those pics dont do him justice !!

tcat74, I did visit the buckeye hot springs!!! 3 miles up the road from where our cabin was on robinson creek. My first time going to that one, quite the hike back up, haha. very groovy vibe goin on there lol. i wish the pools were a little deeper like the travertine hot springs. very cool spot though.

and ive always wanted to hit up Kirman, i need a float tube, and some sinking fly line. i know the native fish in kirman are huge. its on my list of places to fish.

Hey great trip, looks like you all had fun. What kind of fish is that in the last picture. It has a forked tail, no spots and a funny mouth. I've been fishing up there for 20 years and never seen one of those, it almost looks like a smelt from the ocean!

Dude, I swear I know your buddy from the past. I think I went to school with him in elementary. It would be cool if it was him as we were friends back then. I went to school in Burbank CA, elementry school in the md-90's. Let me know if it is a possibility:Smile:

Tyler, dude, I knew that was Bridgyn O'dea. Tell him that this is Nathan Martinez, I was in the same classroom as him during 5th and 6th grade as the two classes were taught together at First Lutheran school in Burbank on Glenoaks and Alameda . Man, it would be great if we could get out fishing together. I was real good friends with a whole group of guys that he may still be in touch with. (P.J., Steven K, Mace H(moved up north the last time I knew him), Michael Tran..) Awesome. Bridgyn's aunt taught me 4th grade....Sweet, keep in touch, maybe we can get out fishing local sometime. My buddies and I fish everything around local and the sierras a couple times a year. I live in Valencia and work in Pasadena. Later, Nathan

Thanks Mike, it just clicked after awhile...and i was getting my cast down pretty good out there. It felt awesome to have a nice size trout take my fly and put up a great fight on the fly rod. im hooked !! Im glad my lady was able to capture that loop on the camera.

good luck up there, the east walker was fishing great, and the virginia lakes as well. I heard good reports from kirman too !
