Hit the lake from 6-11. Or should I say I actually fished for 4 hours (7-11).
Waited at the south side but nobody ever came to open the gate. Killed 45 minutes waiting before I finally drove around to the front. Was gonna go look for a new hole, but not today!

Caught a couple of these lil guys on various plastics.
This guy is in the water.. and released himself.

Tried a couple different reaction baits. They weren't too cooperative today. Was fun dodging and slipping through weeds with the LC weed cutter for an hour or so. I think I need to put some single hooks on it instead of the stock trebles to make it a truely weedless crankbait though!
Looks just like the little gills in the water.

Here was the only drag puller who took me for a couple runs. Good little belly and he was running all over the place. Then back he went to get bigger.

After that, not much going on, or I wasn't really trying much I should say as I was talking to a dude I met on shore named Mack. He said he was out from Palm Springs and I think he was saying he fished Cahuilla (sp?) often. Said he's been on FNN so maybe he'll come on and read this. Good to fish with ya for a few man, hope you had some luck out there.

Had a couple little tiny guys bounce off the hook near shore before the photo session ;)

Took off about 11-11:15 to beat the heat. Air temp was about 95-100*. All the fish came from 10 feet or greater and they were way out there. Every time I set the hook the fish would break the surface way out there about as far as I could cast. The trick was to cast it way out with 3/8oz and move it slow slow slow! I could see them busting on shad way off shore about the same distance out that they would jump when I'd set the hook on them

Good luck out there.

I think we should all be able to make it out. Just waiting on Skyler to name the day he's free via pm pretty much. If I can't take my toon Flying told me via PM he's got us on a backup tube. Don't forget the sunscreen and camelbak. It's pretty warm out right now.

PLano 5-9 Son! (http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpage-PPALTBX35.html) $2.99 at sport authority and they won't let hooks into other compartments.

You need to save up $50 on a beater caddis tube too!

As luck would have it, both the core and the steez make "noize". haha
Pick your poison. Both very nice. One makes noise one way and one makes noise the other. Just depends on which kind of noise you like I guess.
Either way, both very, very nice reels that will make you feel not worthy. At least I do fishing them anyways.

Ye 'ol Perri!
Sorry I forgot some background pics this time. I actually had to focus on the bite today.

Nice going TJ.
Kind of makes me wonder how much more action you would have had the first hour (or 45 minutes) that you lost.
At least you got in some action anyway.
I'm going to have to come down that way in the fall to try it out. Never been there before (Castaic's just too close 2 me  ).

is it free to get into Lake Perris? It seems like the entrance you took is some sort of "free" back route lol

Bernasconi is only open on weekends now. Normally they are open all week for the summer months but this year they shut it down early. They are still slow to get over there to open the gate. I don't bother getting there until 6:30.

Only 4 fish? You slacken off:LOL:

You can park at the gate and walk in for free but it may cost you a window. Theres been a lot of break ins there this year. You can see some of the glass in the picture. I've been going to that side for a long time and I always thought the break ins were from people parking there late after dark but its not. A few Sundays ago I left at 11am and saw at least 2 cars with busted windows. They were fine at 8:30am when I came in.

Over the hill is the entrance booth. Its $8 per car to get in. There may not be someone at the booth so have correct change and use the iron ranger.
They will come through later and check all the cars. Something like a $126 fine.

My thoughts exactly. I missed the gray light. Right now, that's the only time the fish are near the surface by shore. In the day they move out deep but you'll still see one bust every once in a while.

That it is, but you have to walk as payment  I think it's roughly half a mile or so, maybe more. When it's open, you have to pay the envelope like Flying says. Last summer they had it open on weedays but not now. Probably due to budget cuts or something. Thank Arnie..

Valuable info as always. I blame the gate for my slackin' in numbers.
I should have just parked and walked in. I love that side.
