Went to visit family and fish for the weekend. On the water by 6:30 am Saturday. I started off fishing the coves at French Gulch since there was a bass tourney and there were boats just about everywhere else I wanted to fish. Surprisingly not one angler in the Gulch. I was throwing a 1/2 ounce white Super Spot off the rocks in about 12 feet of water when this guy just slammed it at around 7am. Water was 74

Then in the next cove another one. He fought like there was no tomorrow.

After that the bite totally died. I tried a Albino Super Zoom fluke on a spinner jig head, grubs, carolina rig, the works for nada... With the tourney still on and me not wanting to step on any toes I called it quits at 11am to hang with the family at Engineers point.
Sunday I took my son to French Gulch Marina to fish the slips for crappie. We got a late start and the bite was pretty dead by 8am. A real nice guy named Jim was catching some small ones and he let my son bring them in.

After about 30 minutes of not catching anything for ourselves I threw on a green Lip Ripperz "Lit'l Ripperz" 1/32 oz and started jigging. After a few minutes my sons lure got tied up so I put my pole down to help him and 3 seconds after I heard what sounded like someone throwing my pole of the ground. I ran over and the drag was screaming. After a great 3 minute fight on 4 pound test and a crappie rod I brought this guy in. After that, the crappie started hitting again!

Thanks Lip Ripperz!!!
We left about 20 minutes after that as my son had enough sun and heat.
Sorry the pics are so big!
Another great weekend at the lake!
