I am flying to montana this Friday and want to bring some fly rods and my kencor 7' 3 piece. All these rods will fit in my luggage. Is it cool to do that as long as the fit in my bag or do I still have to check them separate as a sporting good item, or "special items" as the web site says??? I kind of think they are referring to a rod that doesn't break down and in its own case. I would think if it fits in my bag with my clothes, it should be ok. Also, there is no problem checking flies and hooks, right? I mean it says right on the web site you can but I just want to make sure there isn't anything special I need to do. Sorry if I sound like a big dummy but this will pretty much be my second time on an airplane... and my first time I jumped out of it (sky diving) ... so i don't really know what the rules are...
