I took my little aluminum 15ft Duroboat “Red Drum” out for her maiden voyage after getting a complete rebuilt electrical system. The 25hp Mercury had worked flawless for 15 years until it blew up on a trip up to San Simeon back in May. Fortunately, the engine worked great and the Bass were on a major chew. Jason “jscrib” decided to join me for a couple hours of non-stop Santa Monica Bay Bass fishing.

We caught over 40+ Sand Bass and about a half dozen Calico Bass. All fished were released to fight another day, except for one misfortunate Sand Bass. All fish caught on Basstrix and Big Hammer swimbaits and VS jig heads.

Jason with the Jackpot Sand Bass of the evening, a fat 25 inch, 8+ pounder. Way to go Scribby!! That should’ve been my fish by the way. Lol!

Here is a picture of the one misfortunate Sand Bass that got bit by a Shark of some kind, a couple feet below the boat. That is the first time I’ve ever had a Sand Bass get bit like that.

That is a huge pig sandie. One of the biggest I've ever seen. As for that eaten bass, I've never seen that before either. I think even the sharks know there's a reason they're called turd rollers. lol.

Great job as usual.
