A colorful Bluegill (my favorite fish!) caught this morning on one on d1LedHed's beautifully tied jigs. Look at those long ventral fins!

Those long fins are sharp as heck too!

Naw Casey,... the only fins that are sharp on a 'Gill are the Spiny Dorsal and the 3 spines on the Anal Fin. Same as a bass and all other members of the Sunfish family.

WOW that's the nicest looking Bluegill I've ever seen WTG! It almost looks like a cichilid!

Oh Snap! Fat bluegill at Perris. Dont know much about bluegills only that, that one is a Pig. Like I told you before, "you would be the one to ask, about them Gills".

good eye flying. i never seen stripes like that on a bluegill. hybrid maybe?

Bluegill usually have some kind of stripes, at least the "Northern" variety. The Florida Bluegills are somewhat different with their stripes. Some have no markings while some of the big males have bars like mine in the pic. Here's a male "Northern" with his distinct stripes.

Wow thats a beautiful fish. I rarely get bluegills out of Perris anymore on the fly to notice.

Nice one!

Those fish are a blast to catch on ultralight gear.
