Lake Topaz, East and West Walker...

Went camping for a week up at Lake Topaz. Took the boat up for some fun on the water but I had my eyes set on fishing all the good waters up there. I fished the spill way coming out of Lake Topaz quite a bit. It is part of the East Walker ID and meets up with the main stretch of the East Walker several miles into Nevada. Fishing is nothing short of phenomenal in this stretch of river. I witnessed some of the most rediculous hatches I have ever seen down there. I mean the bugs were so thick and these fish were flying out of the water out of them. I also caught my personal best trout down there... What a battle it was. I also went up and fish the West Walker in Sonora Pass which was some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. The weather was also awsome at Lake Topaz for taking the boat out. For those who know Lake Topaz, the wind can kick up there in a hurry and it will get bad. It gave us a break this trip though. Anyways, I will let the pitcures do the talking now...

I got the girl down to the river and she killed it... It's not a chore to take her fishing cause she ties her own hooks and does everything on her own. She was stoked to use her new pink combo too.

And now for my personal best trout. I went down to the East Walker early one morning with the woman. I was working my way down with a crawdad tail that I cought and I got slammed. This fish was taking tons of line but I just let her run because there isn't much to get broken off on down there. I had to chase her about a quarter mile down the river and fought her for a good 15 minutes. I was amazed I landed her on my 3lb test. My hook was placed perfect in her lip too. These cut throates have huge teeth so if the hook would of been any deeper, the would of sawed my line right off. This fish was a hybrid cut throat cause it did look like a rainbow upon first glance but she didn't have the tips of white on her fins and she had the red markings under her gills. What a powerful fish she was...
She ended up going 21 inches and weighting about 3 1/2 pounds.

Also went out and got some fish on the mini jig with the Kencor... Sorry I had to crop these so small but I had too... Sorry!!! But here is a nice rainbow that went a couple pounds...

Trouser Trout....awesome report man !!!!! great pics, looks like a blast, can't beat a good fishing and wakeboarding trip with the lady and fam !! my lady has the same pink combo. im leaving tomorrow to go fish the east walker and surrounding lakes for a week, cant wait !!

Should be fun man. I wish I would of never left. It is pretty hot during the day out there but the morning and afternoon bite is really good on the walker...

I just used them for bait. I had probably over 30 of them but just let them all go at the end of the trip. I wanted to try out my new trap and it worked very well....
