went out on the city of long beach saturday with tshaffer. day was slow at the start. went to one spot, nothing, 2nd spot and while soaking my anchoive, my rod loaded up. i set the hook and kept the tention on. i thought i was snagged until it started to head up slowly and i felt the head shakes. i knew it was a big fish. the first half of the fight was just pulling it up slowly and getting a few shakes. about half way up it started making dives. but i steadily brought it up. captains estimate was between 25- 30 lbs. id say its close...

now for the rest of the trip...
we went to a few more spots and none but the last one produced anything. and boy did the last one produce. the last 20 min. we were there was put on a bait, hit the bottom, and if u had to wait more than 30 seconds, reel it up and put on a new bait.
ended up with 9, smallest was 13in.

megafisher94: 16 sandies (9 legal)
tshaffer: 20 sandies (7 legal)
had part of the hali for dinner... mmmmmmm.
JACKPOT: the pot was $100. but the captain offered 2 free passes and said the rest would go to the deckhands. i took the passes.
my first jackpot... hope more to come.
