Took my two boys and one friend each down to NPH today. We arrived at 0600 an started fishing at 0630. D/S all day, started near Bay Isl. and worked south to the Balboa Ferry.

Not a great day of fishing, but not bad. In the end, only one of the youngsters haung in there with me (Jared, Aarons friend). The other 3 called it quits pretty early on and just messed around.

Here are some picks.

1st fish of the day goes to Jared. Only his second time out fishing, 1st in the salt. He casted and hooked this one all on his own.

I handed this one off to Jared. He is not sure about touching the fish yet so Aaron volunteered to hold them. (Kinda)

Next one I handed off to Aaron.

We made some moves and Jared and I were fising side by side, he casts, starts to work and Wham, he gets hooked up???

Was not sure what it was, big spottie? It was fighting hard on a 4ft Ugly Stick! Turned out to be a YFC.

We made a few more moves and it was my turn. Fish hit hard and ran like heck, drag screaming, testing the 8lb to the max. Got really close to a few pilings and I though it was going to win. Not today. New species for me.

We called it a day of fishing at 1030 and we headed off to CDM so the boys could play at the beach and do some boggie boarding.

On the way we stopped by and paid honors to america's finest!

Eddie,

Congrats again on the back to back week fishing and Surf for the kids trips! It looks like they are very fun and also productive and also quality time together!!!! Get it while you can before they venture off into their own little world!!!!!

Nice Spottie for Jared!
Back to back Turbot's or whatever Sole it was is amazing!!!! Most Diamont Turbots's in the harbor are very dark!

That is a nicer model YFC!

And congrats on getting onto the feisty Spotfin for the new NPH species!!!

As for the Rumor that I was prowling around NPH it was true!!!! I awoke at about 11 this morning after a very long work week and tried to get away from the heat and head down to cooler pastures!

I did not last more than 1 hour there before calling it quits due to sheer exhaustion from the previous work week, but did amazingly manage to get what I thought was a flattie but turned out to be a replica of your Turbot's or Sole in the hour that I fish to break my Smelly streak on the salt of late!

Very cool Eddie... I need to add that species of Flat Fish to my list one of these days. :Envious: Nice Spotfin too! I haven't been out there in a couple of weeks... can't wait for the weekend.
