Took my G-son out yesterday for a couple of hours in the morning.
While we didn't catch an large gills the small one around the edge provided plenty of thrills for the boy. Went through 2 boxes of wax worms (available from the fuel/market at Parker Rd. and Castaic Rd.) many of them just feeding the small fish. But the boy got where he could make reasonable casts and hook sets with out my helping. Not bad for 6 years old.
After the bite slowed down he became more interested in playing in the water and on the rocks so we called it a day around 10.
Below is a picture of his first fish ever. Sorry it's such poor quality but i for got my camera and it was taken using my Son-in-laws phone.
