Soo how do I start this report...let me first say this was hands down the best bay fishing trip I have ever experienced, regardless of some of the "technical" difficulties we experienced right Maverick!
I'd been looking forward to this trip for about a week when MaV had first invited me to jump on his boat and go hammer some fish in Newport Harbor. Met up at the pad around 9:15 and headed straight to the launch ramp, we planned on meeting up with MaV's buddy Dan to target some bass/halis and then later hit up the infamous shark spot.
We eased the S.S Crvz into the water, I parked the truck and came back ready to wage war on the fish of NPH when I saw the look of concern/frustration on MaV's face. Apparently the trim was having issues and we could not get the motor to drop into the water and get on our way. We tried everything we could think of at that point and started calling around the area for a boat repair shop or mechanic that could make a suggestion....good luck on a Sunday! With that said MaV says, "TD tie on one of these two swimmies and catch a fish while I go get the truck and pull this baby out until we can get the probelm solved...because we are going fishing today no matter what!" I felt kinda bad because of the circumstances and put up an argument, but that did no good and was told to zip it and catch a fish!
The spot was bumpin with activity....

I felt like I might even get live play-by-play of I could yank a fish out in front of the crowd!

I started to fan cast from the dock area with a deadly looking swimbait MaV pulled from his bag and I just had that feeling if there was something looking for an easy meal I was going to find it...5-10 minutes go by and I decide to try the busiest, most unlikely looking of spots and make the picture perfect cast I had envisioned in my head. Three turns of the handle and the rod loads up after a vicious strike....some of the people on the dock started taking notice as I jumped off the dock and back into the S.S Crvz as the "beast" headed straight under the boat. Right about that time MaV pulled up and watched the ensuing battle and gave me the thumbs up at the top of the ramp. After a little maneuvering I landed my PB spotty and we had not even left the dock, a sure sign of good things to come! :Dancing Banana:(PLEASE NOTE THE HAT WAS WORN ONLY TO MATCH THE BOAT!)

After a couple photos we yanked the boat out and away from the busy launch ramp, no luck finding any help around the marina so I did one better and went to my "life line option" and started calling upon my FNN contacts....Bing was on vacation and did not hear his cell, Trolly was probably at the Vine rockin the Blues fest, but I left a message anyways. Called Rooster Rob and he tried his best to help and get us in contact with someone that could help, after that I tried CrappieMike and he got us on a 3 way call with FNN member exfactor and did his best to walk us though some trouble shooting options. With a little help from our friends we struck gold, the trim engaged and we were off and running! Thanks to all my fellow TEAM57 members for doing what they could to help..."I get by with a lil help from my friends"
Got on the water by noon and headed to the spot, lots of sights to see along the way

Headed to shark/ray central and took in the beauty of the bay in route...I was amazed at the skill of some of the people and their ability to handle a sailboat :EyePop:
