What a great trip! I do a trip up the east side at least once a year to visit family in Carson City. This year will see at least two trips, but this one might be the best.
I camped at 4 Jeffrey Monday night fishing the creek. I hit a spot along the canyon for two stocker rainbows and 4 or 5 browns, all on a size 14 olive elk hair caddis. The biggest was a 14 inch brownie, but I forgot the camera. (Dumb***) Otherwise, they looked like this:

The creek upstream a few miles:

Some clouds came in, looked awesome:

I stopped by Parchers on my way out of Bishop canyon and met Sierra Smitty. Very quick meeting but he seems like a very cool guy. Nice to meet you man.
I spent the next 3 nights in the national forest camping for free. A road leading up a canyon took me to a secluded campsite. I saw nothing but the animals up there.

I fished all the usual creeks and rivers in the area for the rest of the week. One night gave me the biggest hatch I've seen so far. Baetis flies were the meal for the plethora of rising browns. I proceeded to catch at least 8 nice 12 to 14 inch browns on a size 16 parachute blue winged olive with light grey/white wings. These guys fought like crazy. Peeling downstream, it took me a few minutes to get these guys in.

It was so wide open, I was just playing these fish in the middle of the river with the biggest smile on my face!! I was straight up laughing out loud at one point!

The clouds threatened rain a few times, but I was spared the misery of a wet night. They put on a good show though.

I headed up north toward Carson City and hit a river in that area. Got the stripe there. On the way back home I hit a popular river that gave me tons of trouble in the past. I got four 8-10 inch brownies on a size 16 olive EHC, revenge was sweet!!
The 395 is getting worked on in several areas. They put up orange cones to block lanes and have signs like this one telling you to drive carefully:

Any Conan Obrien fans? The Cone Zone baby!!! I'm gonna email this to his show!!!!
