Newport Harbor Late Report 6-24-09

late report, been too lazy to upload photos haha. hit up newport harbor last week in hopes of getting some more spotties and maybe that legal hali. :Cool:

ended up being an awesome day, my gf and i caught 15 fish in 4 different species. got a lot of dinks but they were fun none the less. :Envious:
i guess i should note that most of the fish were caught by my girlfriend.... i wont disclose the amount. :Razz:

4 sandies
7 spotties
2 way short butts
2 yfc



used the usual drop shot rig with various gulp jerkbaits. needless to say all the fish were safely released to fight another day. :Cool:

my fishing buddy for the day, followed us for a good 30 minutes, he liked chasing my dropshop rig around and swatting at the sinker lol.

this guy gave me a hell of a fight and when i got him in i saw that he had a huge 2/0 hook embedded in his stomach with about a foot of 12lb mono coming out his mouth. i cut as much as the mono as i could and off he went. :Cool:

Good job on the harbor action. Hwy was that a 2/0 Owner Rig n' Hook? If so, it was mine, and would be 8lb flourocarbon. Had a few break offs the last few weeks.

Nice work in the harbor for a 4 species day!!!!! I certainly miss the spot of late due to other comitments!

thanks greg! yeah man we gotta hit it up, i've gone twice this year with terrible luck. manged 8 fish for the two trips. think i'll wait it out a couple more weeks.
