Your report always inspires me to go out and fish plastics only. Maybe one day i’ll man up and give it a go. Thanks for the report.

Nice job out there guys and another stellar report JR!

Question for you...have you always been a plastics only fisherman, if not what made you change over? Just curious.

Thanks again for the report!

Hi supasportkid,

Thanks. I've got to start going out more during this little Bass flurry. It may be the only one we have this year for the initial run.

I don't usually do PB trips and sure not on Sunday but ... my fishin' partner fishes exactly as I do so ..... who could resist !!

Hi labboss2003,

I will go tomorrow and you can bet I will dedicate some of my time to trying to catch the slimey creatures once the water turns in the afternoon.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hi russ88,

You better watch out !! You start doin' that .... meet with success .... and confound others with the catching and it'll get addictive !! Pretty soon you'll just say the heck with going to the bait tank, it's cool to not leave the rail and get the first cast in when the bait dunkers have to wait for the boat to settle after scoping out ... on and on and on !!

Hi troutdog,

Thanks. Been doing the plastics w/leadhead ONLY ... no nothing for about 2 years. Three years before that I was using Squid trailers and such.

It all started in mid-80's when I was one of the very, very few guys fishing low-profile Bass reels and HD FW Flippin' sticks on the moo-moos as a deadhead !! I used tube lures exclusively. Boy did old-school skippers, not familiar with me, be pizzed until they saw me take the JP's !! Everybody was supposed to fish bait as far as they were concerned ... HA !!

Why the change 5 years ago. I looked at all the junk I had ....

1) started to calculate how much time I used AWAY from the rail on a trip

2) figured I could cut down tackle and outfits I had to maintain.

3) took on the challenge of catching when others were poo-pooing the idea i.e. 17 different species of fish caught THIS YEAR ..... so far.

Never going back to bait or iron. Downside is that I would not be welcome on some types of trips due to being under-gunned or just not in sync with the mainstream. Catching fish is not the problem .... interaction with other anglers would !!

Hi olfishingal,

Thank you for your always kind words ..... especially from yet another excellent reporter/photogapher we have on the boards. Just giving, in return, to those who contribute and or follow our adventures.

Hi CudaChaser,

Nice Cuda image. I understand that the muski has a wider face than the Great Northern but the similarities of both to the Barracuda have always intrigued me.

Thanks for you thoughts,

Hi flyingby,

Thank you. Tailman One and I seem to like the same sort of fishing .... at least locally. I suspect he's a tuna-hunter-angler in his heart of hearts but ..... but certainly shines in the Bass department.

Last time we were out .... this brown water was being pumped from the bilge into the boat and I thought that strange. Well ........ turns out the ducky is in the shop the last couple of weeks with a hull problem. Hummmm hull ..... brown/rusty water from the bilge pump.

Don't think it terminal but ....... poor ducky !! Poor Tailman One.
