A friend who has a boat slipped in Huntington invited me out on Saturday. We arrived at the dock at 4:45 and were picking up bait (dines and squid) by 5:15.
We started on structure about a mile off Newport pier for a few nice sandys; then moved to a wreck to find some lings, but couldn't get anchored right with the wind and current. Finally ended up near the flats over some structure and finished out the day with a nice sculpin and several calico and sand bass. I was surprised to see the sculpin come up on a 10 inch mackerel. It was a nice morning that quickly turned into a rough and windy afternoon.
