Headed out of Ventura with a killer scoop of dines. Today I took my Dad, Mom and little bro out fishing for the fathers day fishing trip I promised last weekend. The weather across the channel was a little bumpy but not too bad. Got to the east end of Cruz and started our hali drift. We set up in 60' of water with dropper loops. A few drifts and racked baits later my mom was bendo on a nice fish. The fish worked my mom all around the back of the boat as we watched the famous hali head shakes. Ten minutes later the fish was straight up and down but my Dad made the gaff shot look easy. We hung around there for a little bit with no action so we went in shallower. Got in around 40' and my Dad goes bendo a short time later. He got the fish in quick and I stuck it. Nice, that was my mission today get the parents on fish. We fished for another hour or so as the weather got bumpy. My mom is not into getting beat up so I knew it was time to call it a day. It was also good seeing the d.f.g. checking for license's and fish today at the islands.
Mom's fish went 31 lbs
Dad's went 16 lbs

This pic was funny because we kept egging my mom to pick up her fish. She got it up but had halibut slim all over her the rest of the trip, lol.

That was a good day out there Pat, Sucks about the no show on Ghosts and the nice missed raked baits but the hali Mom and Dad got made up for it all. Lets get this Tonyreyes trip going Homo. =)

Most excellent trip I see. WTG on getting out and hooking up MA and PA !! Couple of nice fish !! Many anglers never, ever get a PB 31lb Halibut locally so that's gotta be somethin' !!

What a great father's day outting, nice way to spend time with the family! Even better reward! Congrats to Mom and Dad for their exceptional catches! And great job putting the folks on some fish!

Good job putting moms n pops on some big Hali's. How do you rig up the dines when drifting for the Hali's? I'm guessing a dropper?

Thanks guys we had a great time out on the water. Everything worked out the way I wanted it too and that doesn't happen often on the water.

I like to fish the dropper loop for hali's in deeper water. In shallower I like to fish a carolina rig.

Nice outing Paddy.. your right about not always working out the way you wanting it sometimes but that's life my friend. Someone blessed you out there. We are always hit and miss but sometime soon we'll plan an outing. Talk to Farmy about next weekend. We are planning another trip. It's scary from a fish's standpoint when we are all together... lol
