Michael Jackson has just been pronounced dead after suffering a heart attack.

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home at 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him to the hospital, Ruda told The Times.

[Updated at 2:12 p.m.: Paramedics were called to a home in the 100 block of Carolwood Drive off Sunset Boulevard. Jackson rented the Bel-Air home for $100,000 a month. It was described as a French chateau estate built in 2002 with seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces and a theater.

The home is about 2 1/2 miles, about a six-minute drive, from UCLA Medical Center. An earlier version of this post incorrectly described the time to travel between the home and hospital as two minutes.]

The news comes as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges.

In May, The Times reported that Jackson had rented the Bel-Air residence and was rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows in London's O2 Arena. Jackson had won the backing of two billionaires to get the so-called "King of Pop" back on stage.

His backers envision the shows at AEG's O2 as an audition for a career rebirth that could ultimately encompass a three-year world tour, a new album, movies, a Graceland-like museum, musical revues in Las Vegas and Macau, and even a "Thriller" casino. Such a rebound could wipe out Jackson's massive debt.

MJ was an influence to many. Regardless of the accusations made against him. He's part of my childhood. He brought a whole new style and something new to the game. Go even further back to when he was a kid........ he was awesome with incrediable talent. He fell off the deep end ya, but we still lost a icon and a bit of history. MJ is Tripple OG.

lol. nah, it wasn't like that bro. a company i used to work for set-up an arcade in his guest house. he wasn't there though, but a did get to meet his right-hand man, Big Al. Big Al used to work at that little train place in Griffith Park.
i must admit, i was impressed with neverland ranch. that place is huge. it has a lake big enough to jet ski, a river going thru the yard, a zoo, a carnival, a gocart track, and a small train that went thru the place.

I know what it is like to not have a normal childhood and have to learn how to be in the world as a funtional adult. It has been and sometimes still is tough. Fortunately, I didn't have even a hint of the problems he had. However, I understand how it works up to a point. The process is similar. However, the fact is he was an incredible and unprecedented talent who made magic in music. We should focus on both. Not just the bad stuff of recent years. For the record, I'm not such a fan. I just know talent when I see it and understand some of the pressures he had to face.

I for one won't judge him. Who knows how any of us would turn out if we had the life he had. All that fame , fortune, everyone telling you your the greatest, constant touring, as well as constant giving of himself his whole entire life. Yes the guy ended up a weirdo and only him and the kids in question know the truth of exactly what happened. He was never convicted and I assume there wasnt enough there, except for he said she said or the police would've prosecuted him on their own.

Very interesting you say that T.J.. I heard what M.J.'s family friend and atterney said as he commented in a news conference, that he warned M.J. and the Family about enablers in his inner circle. I'll bet prescription drugs had something to do with his untimely passing.



It seems like the Dr that was with M.J. is really being looked into. If they find the evidence they are searching for and the cause of death is from the meds he prescribed and administrated ( the one that stoped his heart ) he will be tried for Murder.

I watched a Ch.7 news special tonight at 10:00PM about the death of M.J. It seems that its very hard to convict a Dr. in court. Manslaughter is more likely. And that might be tuff to prove in court.
