I've been surf fishing here in Santa Barbara for about 4 years and I have never seen any DFG around. Today, I was approached by a DFG guy at East Beach. He was pretty cool. Asked me how fishing was and told me how the other fisherman down the beach happened to catch a corbina when he was nearby and stuff. After some chit chating, he did ask me for my license, which I had so after a quick check, he told me to take care and went his merry way.
Anyways, if you fish in SB area and haven't bought a license yet, I'd encourage you to go buy one ASAP as a ticket would cost much more than an annual fishing license. And, don't forget the Ocean stamp.
