Team 57 hosted our second High Sierra gathering last weekend at Parcher's Resort at South Lake and AGAIN, it was another EPIC event!

We headed up 395 early Thursday morning....... and of course, we can't go by the "Jawbone" sign without taking a pic......

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers2008.jpg

Then we made our customary stop at the Indian Wells Brewery for a case of their awesome Black Cherry Soda.....

This is a great little micro brewery and their brewmaster has put together some incredible custom beers as well as one of a kind sodas!......

Bottle, six pack, case, keg... whatever your prefer, they have it all!.... This is a fun little stop for the whole family when headed up 395.... they have guided tours and the kids will love all the sodas!.... they also have a great little steak house next door for those of you who happen to pass by after 4:00PM!

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers2009.jpg

Put a few sodas in the ice chest and took off northbound........

Made a stop at Manzanar..... this is a MUST see stop for all of you headed up 395...... bought a couple t-shirts to help support....

Got suprisingly great mileage with my new truck.......
Which left me with more money to spend on Donna. LOL! J/K!

Back on the road again........ and headed to Bishop for a simple but scrumptious lunch at the Village Cafe.....
They're located at north end of Bishop.... just off of 395 at Sea Vee........

After a great lunch at one of the friendliest places in Bishop..... we headed up the hill towards South Lake.....

As always........ the scenery is epic....

10,000 feet in altitude later.... we arrived at Parcher's and the weather was nothing short of PERFECT.....

Spotted the official Parcher's Resort mascot..... "Brookie".

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers2031.jpg

Headed to our favorite cabin, unloaded the truck and made the cabin our home for the next few days.....

As usual.... South Lake was spectacular......... as are most places in the Sierra's..... rather than keep giving a play by play....... Ill let a few pics here do the talking... it was a great day.......

Donna & I spent alot of time hanging out with quite a few TEAM 57 members......

Wingnut, BadBeat, CatchThatTrout, CatchThatTroutsBabe, NoName, LateFisher, BoogieFisher...... we're just a few of the people we had the opportunity to fish with......

We spent one morning fishing with John (LateFisher) and his family at South Lake and simply put...... they are ALL some great folks!....

Here's a few pics from that morning.....

LateFisher with one of his many fish........ (we all held them out as far as we could to try to make them look as big as Wingnut's big fish)

BoogieFisher with one of his many fish.......

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers055.jpg

Here's LateFisher's grandson with a beauty that later weighed in at Parcher's at 2.5!

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers060.jpg

Gotta love the smile!

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers061.jpg

We got to hang out with Tony, Simone, Junior & Tony's grandson...... which is ALWAYS fun!
CatchThatTrout's grandson kept outfishing everyone with his Spiderman pole......

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers083.jpg

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers084.jpg

The "stockers" were pretty much wide open all day at South Lake..... we had a great time just hanging out and BS'ing with everyone...... and in between we did a little fishing.

We limited every day that we fished...... here's me with another stocker...... glasses and all......... and NO... Im not posing for the pic..... but rather trying to ease the pain in my leg and not fall on my butt after a full day of climbing over every rock that exists at South Lake......... (note to self: sign up for Jenny Craig)

We hopped all over the place and stopped and fished here and there............... Donna found a nice little pool downstream and scored her first trout ever from a creek/stream........ and was thrilled! Released safely to fight another day!

Spent a wonderful morning fishing... and just about every spot we stopped at was holding fish..... a great day!

Just after 12.30 we decided to take a break....... so we headed to Bishop Creek Lodge for some lunch........

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers043.jpg

Ran into Webfoot (Bob) & his girlfriend (thats them behind us) at BCL and we all enjoyed a great lunch......

http://fishinghotpage.com/users/tmp3/Parchers044.jpg

We decided to give Wingnut some serious time to fish an area that we scouted earlier............ and of course you know by now........ it paid off BIG TIME for Wingnut..... but Ill let HIM tell THAT story!

We headed back up to Parcher's for a little break before the TEAM 57 dinner later that night............. the resort was now full........

Donna & I had the pleasure of having dinner with Santa Fe Eric, his Dad, Wingnut & Greg.... and we couldnt have asked for better company!

I wish I could have had more time to sit and visit with each and every member........ it was great seeing so many old friends and making so many new friends! Dirty Girl & Garrett sat right next to us and it was nice to see them again and have the opportunity to chat with them, CatchThatTrout, Simone, Mr.Bendo, NoName and all the others at that table!

I hope everyone had as good as time as Donna & I did with all the good people who attended the TEAM 57 dinner! It sure looked to me like everyone was enjoying their dinner and company! Please post your stories!

Before I get into more details about the dinner & raffle......... I want to thank Yamafish (Rodger) and LadyFish (Rebecca) for the boat rental they donated to the TEAM 57 raffle!

We decided to give the boat rental away at the TEAM 57 breakfast we held on Friday morning.... as that would give whoever won it the opportunity to use it on Saturday!

Well, the winner was CatchThatTrout (Tony) !!!

Now....... theres more to the story. Tony was unable to use it on Saturday..... so, he RE-DONATED and we gave it away at the TEAM 57 dinner on saturday night!

Koshaw was the lucky winner!

THANKS AGAIN RODGER & REBECCA!

TEAM 57 donated about 35 free TEAM 57 t-shirts... and made sure EVERY registered FNN member who attended the dinner and was listed on the event thread got one FREE!

I would like to thank Dirty Girl (Chrissy) & Garrett (FisherBrat) for their support and donations to the TEAM 57 raffle......... Xy is always very humble and will probably not like me thanking her here publicly........ but she brought me a full bag full of goodies to give away which included passes to Irvine Lake, Blues Festival tickets, fishing lure holders... and more. Her "skunk hats" were the hit of the raffle! Thanks Xy!

TEAM 57 also donated 3 Richard Childress Knife Sets, decals for everyone that attended the dinner and some other misc items........

Thank you to "Wingnut Pug" for her donation of two very nice Bluetooths!

and.... a BIG thank you to Sue who donated an AWESOME PDA phone that was won by "BoogieFisher".... Sue is always one of the first to contact me when an event is announced and this was without a doubt, another VERY NICE prize from longtime TEAM 57 suppoorter "Sue"!

Here's some more pics from the dinner & raffle.....

Awesome report, Dana!
I'm not going to post one as a) Gator and I both forgot our cameras and b) well.......you all heard that I skunked hard this last week.
Gator and I took a boat out on South Lake on Sunday, and we laughed our butts off as everyone was shouting "good luck Sue, catch some fish Sue".
So we headed out to the back........Gator caught some fish. Finally.....my pole is being hit.....woot!!!!! And yes, that trout took it! So I reeled it in and it was on the small side but Gator insisted we keep it as it was my first one....(rub that one in, honey!)
3 hours later, Gator has caught a bunch more fish, released a couple and I start turning into a pissy *** little girl! The final straw was when my line got wrapped around the anchor line, so in a huff I just snapped it off. Meanwhile the line is still wrapped around the anchor. Gator starts pulling it in so as not to leave line out which could endanger anything on the water...........and then he busts up laughing.......he hands me the mess of tangled line.......and there was a trout on the end of it. So I reeled it in hand in hand and had a little "wooyay" moment that I actually caught a second fish!
Still being a grumpy biatch, but wanting to make a joke, we headed down to the lodge with me wearing the skunk hat Gator had won the night before!

This was my first Team 57 Sierras Parcher's event and definitely will not be my last. I haven't been up in the high Sierras in over ten years and it was every bit as beautiful as I remembered.

My buddy Binh (Bad Beat) and I came up late Thursday night. We came rolling into Bishop around midnight and I get a call from Dana saying that he & Donna was waiting for us. Thanks Dana & Donna for welcoming us personally to the event! We ate a late dinner at Denny's and followed them up the hill to Parcher's. I remember that first night Binh & I sat outside the cabin in the lawn chairs staring up at the millions of stars wide eyed in wonder. I saw at least a dozen shooting stars zipping accross the sky and made a wish with each one of them. Let's see, biggest Halibut, biggest Striper, biggest Trout... at least one of the wishes came true so far.

I got up early Friday morning and took a walk along the creek behind the cabin. How peaceful it was and I felt totally at peace here in God's country. We went to the Team 57 breakfast and met the Parcher's crew and some of our members. Dana & Donna was going to be our guides today and show Binh & I some of the hottest fishing spots in the area. Our first stop was South Lake and we laid waste to the population of Trout there... all were released to fight another day. We all had a nice lunch at the Bishop Creek Lodge where I had one of the best hamburgers ever. Then I told Dana that I haven't done any stream fishing in years so he took us to some streams up near North Lake. We did well there with a mix of stockers and some beautiful natural Browns. Then we headed back down to Intake 2 where the bite wasn't as hot as South Lake but we managed our limits within a couple of hours and gave them away to some of our fishing neighbors. On the way back towards Parcher's I told Dana that we were going to fish the stretch of streams near the resort before heading in. That proved to be a great decision as I was blessed with my PB Trout.

Later, we met Dana & Donna in Bishop where they treated us with a nice prime rib dinner at Jack's. The trip was going along so perfectly and I was looking forward to another great day of fishing on Saturday. But it wasn't meant to be... around 2:00am Saturday morning, Binh woke up extremely ill. The poor guy vomited every half an hour or so and was completely bedridden. I was hoping that he would feel better so we can head out Saturday morning to fish some more but that didn't happen. We initially thought that it was food poisoning or a stomach virus but later found out that it was elevation sickness. I just hung around Parcher's all day Saturday keeping an eye on my buddy hoping that he would recover and head out with me for another fishing outing. His conditions never improved and I decided to take him home after the Team 57 dinner Saturday night.

I had a fantastic time at the Team 57 dinner. Jared & the crew did a great job on the food. Dana & Donna organized a fun raffle with many prizes donated by our team members. I met so many FNN members and their friends there that I can't name everybody in fear that I will miss a name or two. But it was a pleasure meeting most of you guys again and some of you for the first time.

After dinner I went back to the cabin, packed up our gear and headed down the mountain. The good news is that by the time we left Bishop, within half an hour, Binh felt better and came out of his perpetual vomiting mode.

Even though it was a shortened vacation for me... I made the best out of the time that I was there. Thank you Dana for insisting that I come to this event. You were absolutely right that I would love it. Jared & the crew at Parcher's, thanks for your support of Team 57 and a job well done. Most of all, thank you to all the Team 57 members, their friends & family I met that made my time up there so enjoyable... we will meet again. I'm already looking forward to next year!

************************************************** ************************************************** ************

The big Trout: We were working a stretch of stream South of Parcher's when we came upon a large deep pool. I was working a green/brown color mini jig (thanks to Patrick, aka Mr. Bendo for the tip) and saw a huge flash as the fish shot up and missed the jig. I immediately cast pack into the dark pool and it inhaled the jig. It jumped out of the pool and headed upstream. There was heavy brush on the banks of the stream so I had to jump in for a bit and followed the fish. It went into a smaller pool and then back out again. Shot back down stream into the original pool where it it pretty much gave up. For a minute it was a nice battle but the fish didn't put up much of a fight for its size. There was a couple of other fishermen watching and one of them threw me a little hand net. I said, no way is this thing going to fit so I just worked it near the flat area of the stream bank and flip it on the grass.

Took like four pics and didn't bother to weigh or measure it. It had two other hooks in it (a treble & a big single) and I removed those also. It was back in the water in less than two minutes, but it didn't look very good. Swam off very slowly and disappeared back into the deep pool. Not sure if it will make it. The fish was big and fat but looks pretty beat up. Like it's been in there for a long time and had a rough life. The couple of other fishermen that was there told me that I should have just kept it. I did think for a moment of doing that but decided not to. It was the King of the creek and if it was going to die, let it die at home in the water. If I didn't have my camera with me, we might have a different ending. Back at Parcher's, several people including Jared, told me that if I would have taken it to a weigh station it would be marked as one of the biggest fish to come out of that area so far. Who cares... I hope it recovers fully and give another fisherman a thrill of his life. Many people know where the spot is now so I'm sure it won't be long. A moment to remember forever... the Fish Gods are indeed kind to me.

Awesome pics Wingnut!
I can see you spent a bunch of time in the skinny water!
Be careful with that nice gear in the creek! It will get torn up quick like in the surf!

You caught some amazing fish dude. Major props! That other long wild looking one out of the lake is nice too!
I need to bribe you to come find the 20" browns in some of my spots some day!

Thanks Dana and Donna for a great report and beautiful pics! My wife and I manage to go up there only once a year and love it all, and all the same places you visited...including Manzanar (my name's on the wall). Thank you for your support!

Great pictures! Obvious that everyone had a great time except perhaps Bad Beat. Sorry to hear about the altitude sickness and hope it won't keep him from going back. Oh, yeah, and cool you got your PB trout out of that skinny water Wingnut. That's always a blast!

We wished we could have made it with T57, but perhaps next year. We'll probably be up there in the fall before snow fall.

Art,

I was glad to see the picture of that beast you caught in the creek, I heard the buzz about your fish, but now that I see the picture......WOW!!

It was good to see you and your buddy Ben, but I must admit, I was looking forward to seeing WingPug.

See you at the beach soon.

Nice Job Wingnut, I had my first father's day to attend to so I couldn't make this one. It was well worth celebrating it with my twin boys :Big Grin:

I wanted to say thanks to Dana and company for another fantastic trip!

Also great thanks to Yamafish (Rodger) and LadyFish (Rebecca) for the boat rental they gave away (and I won) as well as to StayBent Fishing since I won their half day guided fishing trip too!

It was a blast up there as usual. I am now hooked as it were, and plan on making at least two trips/year to the Sierras O_o.

Tight Lines!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU Dana for another wonderful event!!! I caught ALOT of fish and had a good time!!!!!!! Sorry I haven't replied sooner, I've been tired from work!!!! I did take pictures but don't have a card to load them or remember how to post them. When I figure it out again I'll start posting more.
Thanks to the people at Parchers for their hospitality.

Thank you to the members who donated the prizes.

Wingnut. Arthur, glad you caught a good fish! I was happy to hear that you used my tips! Wish the big fish liked my own tips!!!
