Went down to hang out at the beach and eat with family but decided to bring the rods hoping i'd have some time get the line wet. Started at about 3:45pm The tide was coming in strong and so were the fish, I only had an hour to fish but it was great fishing. I used a 5" Berkley Jerkshad, Pearl Watermelon on a carolina rig. I couldnt manage pics of all the fish but did get a few.

Landed: 4 Halibuts (shorties) and 2 White Sea Bass (shorties 1 about 20'' other about 16'')

Lost: 2 Halibuts (close to if not legals)

I'll be heading to that general area tomorrow, so I hope I can have as much luck as you did! Good job on the fish, that spot gives up some monsters if you fish it enough. Those WSB are a pretty rare catch from the surf zone, and it looks like you handled them pretty well (no dry towel!). If you want a nice gripper tool, check out the Lipper 26 tool. It's a little cheaper than a Boga grip, but it is the same quality.

It's all good bro.......seen alot worse on the handling part. It's not par of F and G reg's either, just easier on your thumb. Who was your photographer?

Cool thx for the gripper tool info and insight on the spot. As far as WSB and handling them is there somthing special about holding them as opposed to other fish? i do know about fish slime and how it keeps them protected and what not, but absolutley no dry towell for sure no. BTW good luck out there tomorrow.

God Damn. I was about 300 yards down the beach surfing and skimming. We brought the poles down too and my friend hooked a short hali in the surf zone, but that was it. My sand crabs got sawed off a few times by those picky perch. I knew we should've headed down to the jetty.

Yet another rare species of fish caught at Bolsa Chica. That place holds so many variety of fish, it's just nuts. Great job.

I really dont think you can do better than this for this tool.

That is the best deal. I personally like the locking/trigger mechanism more than the Boga Grips. You won't regret buying it.

Only went down to Bolsa today for an hour because I had to do some stuff around the house. Large surf and no fish.
